Mr Smith is taking PTV to court to contest the fine. 2. "The tap-on taps into some new tech" - the Age 7/2/2019 Tom Cowie Trialling new smartphone technology on trams and trains. Photo shows Nick Neos using Android phone to tap on myki validator on a tram. 3. "'Myki miracle' eludes Apple users" Android smartphone users will be able to pay for public transport fares from 7am on Thursday 28 March 2019 but Apple iPhone users will have to wait. Timetable - 60 pages printed on off white sheets, plus light grey cover and in the rear, a foldout map showing tram routes of the PMTT etc, centre stapled, titled "The Prahran and Malvern Tramway Trust's Official Time Table", dated July 1918 and priced at 1d. Gives details of the timetables for each routes, fares, signs, notices, tickets and details of the Combined round trips by tram. Has advertisements for Anderson's Furniture of Chapel St Prahran and E. Crook Men's Boys and Boots Chapel St, South Yarra. Map details the Circular Tramway Route, by cable and electric - shows the lines of the PMTT, HTT, rail lines and cable tramways. On rear details the trip, fare (9d for 16 miles), changing points and how tickets could be purchased. NOTE: See letter from donor on htd1389doc - page 3 - re return of item if we get another copy. Zilles Printers was begun by Lewis Zilles in the early 1930s. It was in McKenzie Street Ballarat. His son Jeffrey also became a printer - letterpress, offset and screen printer. The business became Zilles Printers/Graphics and was in Armstrong Street and later Bell Street Ballarat. Montrose Cottage was build c1856 by John Alexander, builder. He was a Scottish stone mason. It was built with bluestone and hand-made bricks. It is on the Historic Buildings Register, National Trust (Victoria). It is important as a substantial and very early stone cottage. The house is now open to the public. It also provides short term accommodation - self contained apartments. Montrose Cottage and the Eureka Museum were winners for the third time of the Tourism Victoria Award. Newspaper Clipping - set of four clippings adhered to two sides of two sheets of ruled quarto paper with punched holes on the left hand side - from newspapers about the removal of trams from Melbourne 1 - Part one of a Large article written by John Messer of The Age, titled "City that went off the rails" about the impact of the closure of the Brisbane tramway system, quotes Brisbane City Mayor - Clem Jones. Dated 7/5/1969 2 - Second part "Is it time to get rid of Trams", dated 8/5/1969 following the closure of the Brisbane system. Mainly quotes from Brisbane transport officials with some Sydney officials. Has photos of a tram in Swanston St and a crowded tram. 3 - "Willy-nilly scrapping of trams 'nonsense'" - written by F. R. Loris BUTTON (27/02/1951- ) Born Melbourne Dr Loris Button grew up in Melbourne, completing undergraduate studies in painting and drawing at the Phillip Institute of Technology, followed by a Master of Fine Arts degree at the University of Tasmania. Her PhD thesis employed self portraiture as a means for reflecting on the self, time and ageing in contemporary culture. From 1981 – 1986 Loris lived and studied in Hobart before returning to Melbourne. She lectured at the University of Ballarat Arts Academy from 1987. Since 1990 she has lived and worked in Ballarat and the nearby town of Creswick. Loris retired from an academic career at the Arts Academy, University of Ballarat (now Federation University) at the end of 2010. Loris has continued a post-retirement association with the Arts Academy through her role as an Honorary Research Fellow. Working with prints, paintings and drawings on handmade paper, her work is regularly shown in both solo and group exhibitions throughout Australia and overseas. This item is part of the Federation University Art Collection. The Art Collection features over 2000 works and was listed as a 'Ballarat Treasure' in 2007.Twenty Five unique state linoprints on handmade abaca and cotton rag papers mounted together with insect pins.
