Significant in being a roster rotation sheet for Bendigo that used a different method of advising crews of the system of tables and weeks. Shows how the system was used. Given date, may have been the last one issued.Printed form titled "Tramways - Motormen/Conductors Rotation Roster - Bendigo" for Bendigo Tramways. Duplicated foolscap size paper, giving roster for motormen and conductors AM and PM rosters. Duplicated form in black ink with a red line drawing to split the AM and PM rosters and two tables on Monday underline. Gives details of the run, tables for each day of the week and shows Spare Tables. Headed "Northern Electricity Supply Branch" Five copies held. Demonstrates aspects of the Ballarat Tramways management system of Traffic Inspector rosters and that they worked a 38 week. Gives two different arrangements.Typed sheet, two carbon copies, giving two forms of rosters for Traffic Inspectors. Titled "Traffic Inspectors' Rotating Duty Rosters" and dated 29-8-1966, has rosters for four traffic inspectors - four week rotation and for three inspectors - three weeks rotation. Shows the hours of work (all 38 hour week), starting and finishing times, for each day of the week. Note under heading says "As from 17 May 1954". Did it change with the number of inspectors available? That is with one of the four being on leave. See also Reg. Item 3421 for the 1954 arrangements. Gives information on the rostering of the tramcars themselves, how many miles per day , the number of trams required and the total week operation and a comparison to previous services.Typed sheet, carbon copy, titled "Mileage and Order out of Depot", dated 3-1970. Gives the run number order of the tramcars out of the depot, the time out and the number of miles for the day (would have other runs within it), for Weekdays, Saturday and Sundays. Provides the story about the visit of No. 36 to the cities of Hawthorn and Camberwell 22/9/1971. Has photo of tram with "Tourism Week Go See Ballarat" banners and photo of the tram in St Kilda Road (at Princes Bridge), Melbourne. Quotes Cr Chisholm of Ballarat. Notes the Hawthorn Tramway Trust and that the tram would be based at Preston Depot for tours. See also Reg. Letter detailing the personal history of one of Australia's largest coach and tramcar builders - James Duncan. Information provided by a family member. Gives personal details and his political involvement.Photocopy - 6 A4 pages of a letter to the BTPS dated 29-3-1995 concerning the history of James Duncan of Duncan and Fraser of Adelaide. From Mrs. Pat Cass of Kangaroo Island, SA. Has a covering letter re Duncan and Fraser and mentions Len Millar in Bendigo and Ballarat. Gives information about James Duncan history in coach building, including some notes on tram building, the Ford agency and other work, his membership of Adelaide organisations and date of birth and death. Rear sheet has two oval photographs of Duncan and Fraser from a book. (is the original of this letter with the Secretary files?) - should be swapped around. Shows the training methods of the time. 3486.1 - also details "Dead Man Brakes"Thirty Three page - carbon copy - within stapled light card covers - Ballarat Motorman (Driver) Training Manual or Guide - not a formal title. On front cover is large letter "G" and words "To be returned to the inspectors office after completion of Training as Motorman" First four pages has index and covers: (A) Tramcar Equipment - electrical - items or clauses 1 to 28 (B) Location of Faults - items 29 - 41 (C) Tramcar Braking - items 42 to 59 (D) Failure of the Mechanical Brakes - items 60 to 67 (E) Tramcar Emergency Braking (Accident Prevention) - items 68 - 72 (F) Automatic Electric Signals - items 73 - 82 - gives locations of signals. (G) General Instructions - items 83 to 98. See condition notes - not in the best condition - needs careful handling. 3486.4 - ditto - similar to above, but 34 pages through to instruction 104. Added section (F) after (E) - "Automatic Braking - clauses 72 - 79, possibly an earlier version of above when trams were fitted with dead man controls. Held within a cardboard folder with a metal binder. Cover has been covered with brown paper and adhesive tape, but only remains on the inside of the cover. Item added 3/10/2007. An ESCo era timetable. Two local businesses have advertised as well.Folded printed card, off white, titled "Ballarat Tramways Rubicon Street and Sebastopol Time Table." Gives details of trams from the City for Rubicon St and Sebastopol for the various days and inbound trams from Rubicon, indicating that trams ex Sebastopol ran 10 minutes earlier. Has various notes on the timetable. On Front of card, has advertisements for R. Hutchinson - 29 Armstrong St Ballarat, auto electrician and Suttons Ltd - Musical instruments - Corner Sturt and Dawson Streets. Printed using the Gestetner duplicating process on foolscap paper in green ink, giving a back ground to the proposal for a heritage or historical tramway in Ballarat, a vision, the benefits of Ballarat, Agenda for the meeting, request for donations and draft resolutions. Graeme Breydon has written notes on pages 2 and 3 of the notes, including additional resolutions, changes to the resolutions and the people who made up the Committee. Painted on treated white linen, banner used to celebrate Tram No. 27, reaching 1,000,000 miles. Has wording in large red capital letters "This tram has just completed 1,000,000 miles in Ballarat". Fitted with metal eyelets in each corner and centre of top and bottom edges. See Reg. Item 3316 for photo taken by The Courier on 29/6/1968. Has been folded for storage.
