Light grey card folder manufactured by the Roneo Printing Works of Rumford England with the file title "Fire Switches, glued to the top of the folder on the inside back cover. Contains many memos from the MMTB Traffic Managers, Depot Managers about the arrangements for the visit of the Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of York in April 1927. Also contains memo re cable tram arrangements for this event from Port Melbourne depot, arrangements for Christmas holidays and other holidays from about 1924 to 1944, including a map of the procession and printed programs by the Government Printer. Documents either typed or hand written. Set of 14 black and white photographs of the use of former sleeper transport car, W2 485 - see page 80 of Destination City 5th Edition for more details of the tram. Tram body being used to train emergency staff how to recover a tramcar that had been tipped over onto its side. DC5, notes it was stored at Preston workshops and later "used an instruction car to train emergency crews in the righting of the overturned trams. It was overturned several times in this role." Note: - would have been at the time, probably the only way to do this, as mobile cranes were only just starting to be developed. Truck is an AEC built Matador truck. Possibly these photos who the first time used as such, as one of the life guards was being cut off in the photos. 1 - tram on its side 2 - ditto - showing underside of tram 3 - pulling one of the bogies clear. 4 - cutting away a lifeguard 5 - pulling the other bogie clear 6 - setting up the chains to recover the tram - note the sleepers it is lying on. 7 - ditto 8 - starting to lift the tramcar 9 - rolling the tramcar upright 10 - tram upright and being jacked up to roll the bogies back under 11 - pushing a bogie under 12 - ditto 13 - as for 9 14 - as for 10 15 - similar to 9trams, tramways, training, emergency, accidents, recovery, mmtb, preston workshops, tram 485, w2 class, aec, r10 vehicle, works cars -

Photograph of cable cars in Elizabeth St at the corner with Collins St. Has the Elizabeth St station in the view, along with Craigs and the Royal Bank. Rod Atkins advised 24/08/2020: "Dates from around 1914. taken 11.53 am in high summer. The Flinders Street Railway station looks complete but we still have all the telephone cables on poles in both Elizabeth and Collins Streets. I don't know the year they all went underground. We have two standard "Fitzroy" trams in Collins Street and one West Melbourne tram with standard eight-window trailer - no bogie trailers in the photo. Some of the West Melbourne trailers were still six window cars in the 1920's. The major building in the photo is the "Royal Bank" on the South East Cnr. of Collins and Elizabeth Street. The two photographs show cable trams being shunted into the Brunswick Cable Tram Depot or car house from Sydney Road. The first shows a horse pulling a bogie tram trailer into the car house while the second shows the grip being pushed in by hand. Note the raised position of the grip when this shunting task is performed - 1920s. Yields information about the shunting of cable trams at the Brunswick car house or depot.Set of two black and white copy photographs with adhesive marks on the rear. Two copies of each held. Produced by Tin Treasures, Toy City, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Painted in Melbourne City Circle tram colours, numbered tram 957, fitted with a Bank of Melbourne and "Take a Break with V/Line" roof advertisements. Based on the manufacturer's website, the roof advertisements are not original.Demonstrates a toy clockwork model City Circle tram.Painted tin plate model - fitted with a pantograph and two advertising signs. Equipped with a fixed bogie at one end driven by a windup clockwork geared motor and a swivelling bogie at the other with metal flanged wheels. Book, State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV), Instructions or Rules to Motormen, post 1945
Handmade book with light green covers made from a cut file holder with brown paper glued on the inside, containing 39 typed (original) sheets of paper giving Instructions or Rules to Motormen. Has five page index, then 34 pages, with 104 rules or instructions, covering Tramcar Equipment (electrical), location of faults, tramcar braking, failure of the mechanical brakes, tramcar emergency braking, automatic braking, automatic electric signals and general instructions for Ballarat. The brown paper appears to have been placed on the outside, as it is cut and glued on the inside of the book. Individual sheets held into the book with a metal clip. On the rear of the book, a small piece of cardboard has been glued over the back of the metal strip. Notes mentions bogie trams, so therefore post 1945. Gives details of route electric signals, use of doors on the trams relevant to the central median strip. On page 4, has hand drawn diagram showing the motors in series and parallel. On page 8 has a hand drawn diagram showing the car lighting circuit arrangements. Has been folded in the middle so as to store in pockets of a coat.
