This photo album was collated by Ray Pearson, a tramways history enthusiast and collector. It was donated to the museum in 2012 along with one other photo album, by his grandson.This photo ablum is significant for containing a large volume of historic photographs of vehicles, personnel and events related to the the Victorian tramways - particularly Victorian Railways, Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong tramways - from c1920's to c1994.Brown rectangular photo album (landscape format) containing photographs, newsclippings, postcards and other paper documents. The album contains 25 separate leaves plus a front and back cover. The album is bound on the left edge with brown cord, tied in a knot at the front. The spine and page edges are tattered and many of the photographs and documents within are loose.The front cover has a printed decorative border, rectangular in shape with a geometric pattern. The corners of the border also have decorative geometric shapes. Clothing. Infant's cream silk christening coat. High round neckline with fold over collar with rounded edges -10 cm at front dipping to 13 cm at centre back.Collar finished with scalloped edge. Yoke at front and back edge with decorative embroidery that continues along either side of full length front opening to hemline. Hemline finished with deep scalloped edge. Front skirt has 3.5 cm smocked section below the yoke. Lower sections of front skirt on each side have three embroidered cut work sun patterns (10 cm) surrounded by embroidered leaf patterns. Back skirt section gathered into yoke. Lower edge of yoke has decorative embroidery. Front opening fastened below yoke with two X 1.8 cm purlescent buttons and button holes. Clothing. Cream silk infant's christening coat. Fold down collar on round neckline with squared corners. Collar has four X 5 cm slits - one on either side of the shoulder. Collar has embroidered edges and floral embroidery on each section(5). Yoke at front and back. Skirt sections front and back have 7 cm smocked section where attached to the yoke. Edge of each yoke has decorative embroidered leaves that continue along both edges of front opening and around the hemline. Lower sections of the front skirt have embroidered floral patterns. Long sleeves are gathered at shoulders with 4 cm section of smocking 2 cm at the wrist with 2 cm gathered edge at hem. Front opening is fastened at throat with metal hook and cotton loop, and three X one cm pearl look buttons beside the smocked section. Two silk fabric ties (68 cm X 14 cm) are gathered and attached below the collar an each side front opening. Unlined. Clothing. Infant's cream coloured silk dress. High round neckline with casing and 1.2 cm lace trim. Short puffed sleeves with eyelet casing at wrist, threaded with cream coloured satin ribbon tied with decorative bow. Lace trim (2cm) at hem of sleeve. Embroidered fabric insert on top of sleeve. Deep V shape embroidered fabric insert from across shoulders to waist on centre front of bodice. Fabric insert has embroidered patterns of sun shapes and leaves. Back of bodice has circular embroidered fabric inserts below the shoulders. Embroidered ribbon insert (1.5 cm) around waistline. Skirt has 7.5 cm hem. Above the hem is a border of embroidered triangular shapes (Base 5 cm, Height 30 cm) of sun patterns, vines, leaves and flowers.Centre back opening (25 cm) fastened with silk ribbon ties at neckline and two X one cm buttons and button holes. Clothing. Child's cream coloured waisted organza dress. U shaped neckline with 1.5 cm lace trim with eyelet edge. Silk ribbon (1cm) threaded through eyelet lace. Organza fabric and bows. Large bow pattern of on centre front of bodice, on each sleeve and four bows around skirt connected with trailing ribbon pattern. Front bodice has decorative vertical pin tucks.Back bodice has vertical pin stripes and lace strip inserts. Centre back opening (35 cm) fastened with ribbon at neckline and five metal hooks with cotton loops. Two horizontal strips of lace around waistline. Clothing. Women's black embossed silk bodice. Part of two piece set (skirt 11410.2). Stand up lace collar (7 cm) boned on either side and edged with cream coloured lace. Collar fastened at centre back with three metal hooks and eyes. Front opening left of centre fastened with eight metal hooks and cotton loops and three across the left shoulder. Crossover section at front is pin tucked below the neckline and is tapered into the waist with centre pleats. Both sides of the crossover have decorative beading along the edges. The inner layer of the bodice is fastened at centre front with 15 metal hooks and eyes - alternating directions. The bodice is shaped from the waist with 9 boned casings. The back is shaped in at the waist finishing with two U shaped tails (11cm X 8cm) with V shaped tails (4 cm X 6cm) on either side. The waistline and tails are finished with a double row of decorative black beading. At the waistline at centre back are three metal hooks to attach bodice to skirt. Long sleeves are gathered at the shoulder, shaped at the elbow tapering to the wrist. Below the wrist is a two piece cuff (13cm X 7cm) with decorative black beading. The bodice is fully lined with light brown cotton fabric with grey splash pattern. Historical Notes: This bodice and skirt belonged to Elizabeth Graydon (nee Richardson). Gold coloured metal medallion suspended from gold bar with enamelled surface. Bar has the words Life Member in gold on blue background. Medallion is a round shape with a fancy pattern in gold surrounding an enamelled centre with the word Swimming surrounding a picture of a person swimming. On the reverse the following words are engraved 'B.E.S.C. Val Campbell 19.5.97.' Certificate of Life Membership of the Bendigo East Swimming Club presented to Valma Campbell dated 15 May 1997. Certificate is printed on cream coloured card with a gold decorative border and black writing. Clothing, cream coloured double layer child's silk cape. Inner cape has 13 cm one piece circular yolk with 7 cm turned over collar. Casing around neck has 4 cm draw string ribbon threaded through. Inner cape is made from one piece of fabric with inverted V shaped insert on LHS extending 40 cm from edge of yoke. Inner cape is fully lined with cotton fabric. Two extra satin lining panels extend from yolk to hem inside both front openings.(7 cm widening to 28 cm at hem). Outer cape is made from one piece of fabric falling 57 cm from the collar. Outer cape is fully lined with cotton fabric with additional satin lining panels inside front openings from neckline to hem ( 8 cm at neck to 30 cm at hem). Both layers have decorative silk embroidery of floral patterns. Outer cape pattern extends down both sides of front opening and continues above the hem line around the cape. The embroidery on the inner cape extends from the lower edges of the front openings and continues above the hem around the cape. (a) Silver-coated intricately patterned cake slide. Carvings on a floral theme are done in relief. Edges are irregular. The handle end features a female form reminiscent of a ship's figure head. The word "Italy" is engraved on the back of the slide in very tiny writing.

Highly decorative silver-coated object in the shape of a four-pronged fork. A sailing ship forms the top of the handle. The handle (or stem) has 2 curlices on each side. The main section depicts a homely interior in which a seated woman plays the harp, a man stands listening and a child sits on the potty. The whole is surrounded by raised vine-like patterning. A very tiny triangle is engraved in the point of the fork at the back.

This object was donated by Dr Susan Kelly in memory of Dr Loraine Hibbard (1916-2002) Emeritus Consultant, St George Hospital, Kogarah, NSW. The maker and date of this object is unverified due to lack of supporting evidence. It is unknown as to the significance of the engraved Phoenix. Antique Sheffield electroplated silver, copper basket with swing handle. The bowl of the basket is octagonal with incised geometric and circular pattern along the perimeter. Engraved in the bowl of the basket is an image of a phoenix including a smaller image of a phoenix engraved on the swing handle. The iconic bush surrounds of Lake Daylesford are now home to a new permanent artwork titled Cottage, by artist Jason Waterhouse. The artwork has been months in the making, thousands of S-shaped pieces have been hand crafted from three kilometres of wrought iron, then joined together to form a scaled-down miners cottage. ‘Cottage’ is a highly decorative wrought iron sculpture inspired by the gates at the Convent in Daylesford, “ said Waterhouse. “This work references the rich opulence of the Victorian gold rush and pre-war spa resort era in its patterning. In its form ‘cottage’ pays homage to the miners, workers and farmers on whose backs the riches of Daylesford were built.” Cottage is the first in a series of significant public artworks to be commissioned by Hepburn Shire Council. Cottage will enhance one of Victoria’s premier tourist destinations, Lake Daylesford.
