Maps (2), 1 Kapong .2 Hawkesdale, 1 1913 .2 1942
These two maps of the Kapong/ Hawkesdale area in Victoria show the original lands that belonged to the pioneer settler, Charles Hamilton MacKnight and the handwritten annotations that show the subsequent owners of these lands. Charles Hamilton Macknight (1819-1873) came to Australia from Scotland in 1841 and in 1842, with partners, James Irvine and William Campbell, established the property of Dunmore in Broadwater (24 kilometres from Hawkesdale). He was a prominent breeder of sheep, cattle and horses. Sections of his lands were acquired by the Baulch family and these maps were acquired from a member of the Baulch family, with Stanley Baulch being the possible annotator of the Kapong map. These maps are of interest as they show the properties that belonged to the pioneer settler, Charles Hamilton MacKnight and the subsequent division of these lands, some of these passing into the hands of the Baulch family. As the Kapong map also shows other original landowners, it will be a useful tool for researchers..1 This is a map of Kapong in the County of Villiers. It is on a rectangular-shaped piece of linen-backed paper with black printing and some handwritten annotations in red ink. It is crumpled at the edges. .2 This is a rectangular-shaped piece of paper showing a map of the Hawkesdale area. The printed material is in grid form in black, green and red. At the left bottom edge it has a mauve stamp. kapong, victoria, hawkesdale, victoria, dunmore estate, victoria, charles hamilton macknight, baulch family, western victoria, history of warrnambool -

Headwear - Lady's hat and hat shapes, 1960s
These items came from the Godfrey family who lived in Warrnambool in the mid 20th century. The hat was bought and worn by Barbara Phipps (nee Godfrey) some time in the 1960s. It was bought from the department store of Cramond and Dickson, a prominent and important business in Warrnambool from 1855 to 1973. The two felt hat shapes were bought in Italy during World War Two by Jim Godfrey and given to his wife Joy. They were never made into hats to wear but remain in their original state. These items are of interest because they are connected to a 20th century Warrnambool family and because they are good examples of women's fashions of the past..1 A beige=coloured lady's felt hat with a slight fold in the crown and with a strip of felt around the outside of the crown ending in a single knot. There are some multi=coloured feathers attached to the felt strip. The hat has a cream lining on the inside edge of the crown and the brim is stitched .2 A cream felt hat shape .3 A green felt hat shape.1 Doeskin Felt 100% Wool Geo. Documents (2), 1 1915 .1 1910
These documents come from a collection of material from the Baulch families of Dunmore and Rose Park estates in Western Victoria in the Macarthur district. They concern the sales of the Green Hills Estate (1910) and the Olangolah estate (1915) near Woolsthorpe. Both were offered for sale by the owner, Colin Tulloh. The properties bordered on Baulch property belonging to Stan Baulch (1897-1980) and hence this is the reason for their being included in Baulch estate material. These items are of minor interest and will be useful to researchers as they show the sizes and some owners of some early 20th century Western District properties. .1 A single sheet of white paper with a map or plan of a property and black printing.
