Kew Festivals were held locally from 1974, initially every two years and later annually. For a number of years, Festival parades were held. The Bulla Primary School was holding a sports day where all students participated in a varied choice of events. It took place on in the school grounds. The students from Bulla Primary School were participating in a concert that was presented to the parents and wider Bulla community. Jump rope for heart is a fundraiser for the National Heart Foundation. School groups and in this case the 1st Tawonga Brownie Unit participated in skipping for a given time to raise money to advance the fight against cardiovascular disease. Bulla Primary School held a pets day at the school in 1988 and the students, teachers and parents along with their pets were invited to participate.
