Saint Joseph’s Convent Patrick Street once the family home of the Kinsella family. The house was built in 1900 by architect M. Ryan and building contractor A. J. Barnes for Thomas Kinsella who occupied the home till he died in 1902. The Kinsella family later sold the house to the Catholic Church and was occupied by the Sisters of St Joseph. 3 Black & White photographs of a brick home with slate roof. In 1986 SOFUY (Servicing Opportunities for Unemployed Youth) was established by Ballarat Diocesan Family Services (later Centacare). This Mosaic art work was created by unemployed youth involved in the program 1986-87 and featured on the wall of the organisation's office at Ballarat's St Patrick's Hall. RSSILA Wangaratta Sub Branch Dinner held to celebrate the Centenary of Wangaratta in 1938. Dinner guests included the Chief Commissioner of Police and Mr Holland, State President. Other Centenary events included the unveilling of the King George V Memorial Gardens which were opened by Mr McEwan Minister of the Interior, representing the Prime Minister. John McEwen was born on 29 March 1900 at Chiltern in Victoria, to pharmacist David McEwen and Amy (Porter) McEwen. His mother died after the birth of their second child in 1901, and his father died in 1907. McEwen and his younger sister were raised by their grandmother, Ellen Porter, who ran a boarding house. They lived first at Wangaratta and then moved to Dandenong in 1912.
