Newspaper clipping from The Courier, Ballarat, dated 23/2/1972, titled "Cover seal for Bridge St. tram lines". Reports on the proposal of the CRB to cover the tram lines in Bridge St. late next week. Advises that the track would not be dug out, but covered with a hot mix seal. Quotes CRB Divisional Engineer Mr. E. Oppy. Were a number of problems in removing the lines from Bridge St., and proposal of Council to convert it to a pedestrian mall. Tram 32 has been decorated for Myers as a Santa or Christmas tram, and is outbound to Gardens via Sturt. St. Pole sign by Holden car has a Olympic rings sign on it, indicating location of Lake Wendouree and once was a tram stop sign. Taken on 23-12-1967. High Res Images added 5/3/2011. Series of three Colour photograph of Ballarat No. 37 using the Dawson St. crossover in Sturt St. Photos on Agfa Paper and taken on Friday 21 August 1971. Tram has the destination of Lydiard St. North and two roof advertisements for the SEC "Everything's under control in my all electric kitchen" on either side of the tram. 2427.1 - Photo of tram about to use the crossover with St. Patricks Cathedral in the background. 2427.2 - as above, but with tram on crossover. Bottom right hand corner appears to have a sleeve from someone else in the photograph. 2427.3 - after tram has completed the use of the crossover and continuing along Sturt St. to the City terminus. Photo has end of film marks on the right hand edge. Note H.P. Printed colour postcard of the east end of Sturt St. from top of the Nichol and Allen Building in Grenville St looking west. Titled "Sturt St Ballarat" in the top left-hand corner. Has three ESCo trams in the image, at the east end of Sturt St. In the bottom left-hand corner is the number "300477" and the initials "JV" within a circle. A 2d Australian stamp, cancelled with the postmark "Burnie Tas 21Ap 34" is in the top centre of the postcard. Image taken early in the days of the Ballarat electric trams, with no windows and no rooftop destinations. Appears to be the same tram possibly three times - looking at the number on the tram in detail. On the rear of the postcard is the address to a "Mme Helen Ferrando, Sori, Genova Italy" in black handwritten ink, while in the left-hand half of the postcard, typed in light purple ink is "Arthur H. Rubock, 23 Wilmot St., Burnie, Tasmania USCE 23897" (could be US Corps of Engineers) and the postmark of "Sori Genova. / 28.5.34". The printer of the card is "The Valentine & Sons Publishing Co. Wal notes that the front of the cars have been outlined incorrectly. Yields information the buildings, buildings and scene at the intersection from Grenville and Sturt Sts looking west with three trams.Postcard - divided back, used with postage stamp on front. Has a horse tram leaving the Grenville St. terminus travelling up to Lydiard St. on the north side of Sturt St. Has the buildings on either side of Sturt St. in the view, including Suttons Music store. Titled "Sturt St Ballarat Vic" along the bottom edge. 2437.1 - On the bottom of the postcard is a two line hand written message. On rear of postcard is the address to a Miss C. Haurley of 4 Mortuary Road, South Shields England and two Victorian stamps - half penny (green) and one penny (red) stamps. Has been postmarked "North Melbourne Vic.
