Set of seven Rose Series Heritage postcards in a strip production featuring Bendigo Victoria. Each black and white postcard features an historic view of Bendigo from older Rose Series or Valentine's postcards and are perforated on the top and bottom so they can be separately used. On the rear of each card are areas for address, stamps, title, Rose logo and copyright note. Each card has been given a new Rose Series Number. On the top of the set of cards is a short history profile on the Rose Stereograph Co. 1. Shows buildings along the north side of Sturt St. and the building at the SE corner of Doveton St. ESCo tram has destination board on the front dash of the tram. In the stamp section, details for Inland 1/2d stamp needed, and for Foreign 1d. Framed photograph of three single truck trams at Gardens Loop, 27, 26 and 33 during December 1987 centenary by W. F. Scott. The same photograph used on page 2 of the BTM's "Ballarat Heritage Tramway" booklet. A similar photograph appears in the BTM Postcard - Reg. Item No. 1657 for another photograph of the same scene. Letter on rear 608 - Postcard size Souvenir Tram ticket, printed ...Demonstrates a souvenir item for the opening of the electric tramways in Ballarat in the form of a postcard, one of which has actually been used to send a message. Has a strong association with the people who sent and received the card.608 - Postcard size Souvenir Tram ticket, printed using blue ink on one side with fare, photos of power station, engine room, boiler room and a tram & No.11162 stamped on edge. On reverse side is space for stamp, address etc., - with line & "postcard' etc., printed in red ink. Letter/note to Mino Loveday Hutchins c/o P.O> Queenscliff. No date. Fares given on card are : Mount Pleasant and Orphanage and Grenville St. 3d, or Grenville St. and Tram sheds 3d. Printed in a blue/grey ink of various shades onto a white card. Souvenir 608.1 - as above, numbered 11308, has been punched on lower edge near right hand corner. Has been used as post card to a person in Alexandria?, but rear has been eaten by silverfish or similar. Did have a date stamp of "28-8-0?" See also Reg Item 2488, page 28 for ticket number 1595. Black and white postcard printed photograph of the front of a Melbourne Tramway and Omnibus Co. cable car with the photograph of an employee in uniform against a black background merged into the front of the cable tram between the roof uprights and the decorative front apron. "M. T & O Coy" have been printed on the destination panel. At base of card is "Darge Photo copyright No. 1136". On rear is printed Postcard, /Correspondence/Address Only. On side of card vertically is "DARGE, Photographer, 175 Collins St. Melbourne Vic." In position where stamp would go, in a square box repeated twice, are the words "KODAK AUSTRALIA", along with decorative scrolls. Printed colour postcard of the east end of Sturt St. from top of the Nichol and Allen Building in Grenville St looking west. Titled "Sturt St Ballarat" in the top left-hand corner. Has three ESCo trams in the image, at the east end of Sturt St. In the bottom left-hand corner is the number "300477" and the initials "JV" within a circle. A 2d Australian stamp, cancelled with the postmark "Burnie Tas 21Ap 34" is in the top centre of the postcard. Image taken early in the days of the Ballarat electric trams, with no windows and no rooftop destinations. Appears to be the same tram possibly three times - looking at the number on the tram in detail. On the rear of the postcard is the address to a "Mme Helen Ferrando, Sori, Genova Italy" in black handwritten ink, while in the left-hand half of the postcard, typed in light purple ink is "Arthur H. Rubock, 23 Wilmot St., Burnie, Tasmania USCE 23897" (could be US Corps of Engineers) and the postmark of "Sori Genova. / 28.5.34". The printer of the card is "The Valentine & Sons Publishing Co. Has a horse tram leaving the Grenville St. terminus travelling up to Lydiard St. on the north side of Sturt St. Has the buildings on either side of Sturt St. in the view, including Suttons Music store. Titled "Sturt St Ballarat Vic" along the bottom edge. 2437.1 - On the bottom of the postcard is a two line hand written message. On rear of postcard is the address to a Miss C. Haurley of 4 Mortuary Road, South Shields England and two Victorian stamps - half penny (green) and one penny (red) stamps. Has been postmarked "North Melbourne Vic. Feb? 23 05" and over stamped "289" over the penny stamp. See images .1 and .2 2437.2 - On the bottom of the postcard is a single line hand written message. On the rear of postcard is the address to a Mr Frank Tucker, Glencairn, Park Avenue, Harrogate, England. Has two Victorian stamps, half penny (green) and one penny (red) stamps. Has been postmarked twice with the same stamp, "Ballarat East 16.01.04" or 16.11.04?? Has a horse tram travelling up to Lydiard St. on the south side of Sturt St. Has the buildings on north side of Sturt St. in the view, including the central median reserve before the trees had grown. Titled "Shoppee and Alexandra Squares, Ballarat Vic." along the bottom edge. On the bottom of the postcard is a one line hand written message, ink fading, very hard to read. On rear of postcard is the address to a Mr Frank Tucker, Glencairn, Park Avenue, Harrogate, England. Has two Victorian stamps, half penny (green) and one penny (red) stamps. Front cover has a image of the Arch of Victory on the left hand side with space for title, address area and stamp. Shows uniforms and clothing styles.Black and White copy photograph of a Ballarat Municipal library (No. 911) postcard at the time of the opening of the Electric tramway in Ballarat. Tram has destination of Gardens, with four crew/inspector in uniforms, a number of well dressed passengers including ladies and children and some boys at the rear. Shows arrangements of steps lining etc. In the background is the Bucks Head Hotel, a Confectioner (J.M. Kiln?) and other buildings. Photo taken in 1905. ... postcard with an impressed image of an ESCo tram just past ...Photographically printed black and white postcard with an impressed image of an ESCo tram just past the intersection of Doveton St. and Sturt St. travelling east along the north side of Sturt. Street towing a heavily laden horse tram as a trailer. Photo appears to be taken soon after opening of the electric trams, as the tram does not have any destination box above the driver. Possibly summer 1905/1906. Numerous people in the street, some horse drawn vehicles in the photograph. Shows buildings along the south side of Sturt St. and part of the verandah of the building at the NE corner of Doveton St. For a list and description of the same base image see Archives file - "Notes on ESCo Tram towing a heavily loaded trailer" On rear is places for correspondences stamp, address. Addressed to Miss E. Freeman, in Dunedin NZ, with a hand written message. Posted in Melbourne on 28/10/1908.
