The bag belonged to Dorothy's mother who resided in Canterbury Road, Vermont, Unit 1, next to Steven Reserve for 20 years until she died. Information from Dorothy Meagher re bead bag:-Dorothy Mavis Don (owner of bag) was born in Cowangie, S.A. in Mallee country in 1907. She married Douglas William Stewart on 22-1-1927 in the Presbyterian Church in Cowangie. Consists of formation history, track and route dates, operator, SEC takeover and route lengths. One page of statistics - 1935 to 1969, only completed to 1968 and last year filled in by hand. Gives Income, Expenditure, Loss, passengers and car miles. Car miles have been handwritten and pasted over the typed sheet. The former City of Kew in Victoria issued badges to council employees performing public roles. The Society has other badges issued by the City for roles such as Parking Attendant, Swimming Pool Attendant etc. Arthur Henry Dear was an employee of the City of Kew, acting as Hall Keeper of the Kew Recreation Hall in Wellington Street, and later the new Kew City Hall in Cotham Road. The Arthur Dear Collection contains memorabilia - tickets, programmes, invitations - as well as his identification badge. Items in the collection dates from the 1940s to the 1960s. The Kew Recreation Hall (Wellington Street) and later the Kew City Hall (Cotham Road) were major locations in suburban Melbourne in the postwar period for civic and private events including theatre productions and exhibitions. The Arthur Dear Collection (in conjunction with the scrapbooks compiled by Marion Tilley) provide a comprehensive snapshot of performing arts in Kew during the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. The collection includes valuable data about performances, performers, directors etc., during this period. A nickel and enamel identification badge issued to the hall keeper of the Kew Recreation Hall by the City of Kew. A document detailing rules and regulations of the running of the Legacy Club, Melbourne. The date is not known. The policy and objects covers: loyalty, comradeship, dependents of deceased soldiers, cooperation with other organisations, education, preference, national development, and Shrine of Remembrance. Other parts of the document covers eligibility for membership, transfer of members, subscriptions etc. Meetings and their procedures as well as management structure. It is possibly before 1940 when the RSSILA changed it's name to RSSAILA. The notation H14 in red pen shows that it was part of the archive project that was trying to capture the history of Legacy. Handwritten anonymous notes, possibly 1971, headed "Ask Alec" and identifying information the writer needed such as 'Present state of the project'. There is no indication of what the project was beyond dates for the acceptance of tenders, start of construction and date of completion etc. Appears to be part of the review of the residences done at that time. When ideas for renovating and upgrading one of the homes was being considered. Apparently building would start in March 1972 and be completed before the end of 1972. Series of documents recording the third progress payment to W.B. Russell for writing 'There Goes a Man', his signed receipt, outline of progress and the way in which the payments wasere used. He notes four main fields of activity - sifting and arranging Savige's own records, research and interviews in Canberra and Sydney, background reading (newspapers etc.), and the writing of the first two chapters. Most of the first progress payment was directed to reimbursement of salary lost whilst working full time on the book, as well as travel and accommodation expenses.Part of the story of how the book 'There goes a Man' came to be created.Typed documents, black on white.
