There are only a few recipes as this is a thin notebook..Black fragile small thin notebook of handwritten recipes belonging to Lucy Sebire in the late 1800's. The covers are very worn and the pages are torn, faded stained and heavily tanned. It is tied together with string at the top left hand corner. Label attached indicates the item has been viewed by Bryan Hibbard and attributed as a Barnes type of blunt hook.Blunt hook, with metal handle, interchangeable, the handle unscrews. Most likely had crochet also. Meyer Meltzer London stamped on handle. See Mayer & Meltzer catalogue, 1890. Fig. 5976, page 336. This illustrates the hook and crochet, interchangable with the one handle- a mahogany handle with cross hatch pattern. Hilliard and Thomason was established in Birmingham, and closed in 1908.Sterling silver presentation trowel in blue leather hinged presentation trowel with blue suade and satin lining. The trowel handle is silver plate and can be screwed off the trowel, and is hollow. The Boyle family moved from Sydney to the Bendigo area in 1853. After a period of gold prospecting, Daniel Boyle (Harry's father) settled in Sydney Flat (now Woodvale) where he ran the Australian Store. Harry Boyle learned his cricket from gold prospector and Bendigo Advertiser journalist, John Glen. Boyle was one of the locals who helped create the Sydney Flat Cricket Ground circa 1862. In March 2023, the Woodvale Community Group named the ground, the Henry Frederick (Harry) Boyle Oval in recognition of his sporting achievements.Prose written by A. W. Llewellyn - The Test Match. Henry Frederick Boyle lived in Sydney Flat (Now called Woodvale); he toured England as a test player in 1880, 1882, 1884, 1888 and was manager of the 1890 Team. The ground opposite where he lived used to be known as "Boyles Oval". Ballarat Trades Hall was part of the Intercolonial Trades Hall Congresses created for the purposes of collective organising within labour organisations. There were eight Congresses held within Australia: - 1879 Sydney - 1884 Melbourne - 1885 Sydney - 1886 Adelaide - 1888 Brisbane - 1889 Hobart - 1891 Ballarat (after the Maritime Strike in 1890) The political organisation of the labour movement and of restructuring trade union organisation under the Australasian Federation of Labour were significant agenda items. - 1898 Adelaide The following items were regularly discussed: - legislation of trade unions- organisation of labour - abolition of ‘Chinese and coolie immigration’ - Compulsory Court of Arbitration - Employers Liability Act - legalisation of the 8 hours system - land nationalisation - manhood suffrage - direct representation of labour in Parliament - appointment of working men on technical and other boards - free compulsory and secular education by the state and regulation of apprentices. Yields information about a special tram service during March 1969 and some unusual moves.Set of four Colour slides, Kodak white cardboard mount, developed March 1969 of a special tram that apparently ran from the depot via View Point, shunted at Ripon St and again at Hospital corner. ..1 - No. 26 running a special in Wendouree Parade, View Point, with the Lake View Hotel. .2 - ditto - and a catering company in the view, as well as a Telephone box. .3 - running from Ripon St into Sturt St. .4 - shunting at Hospital corner - then possibly crossed 34 at Parker St Loop - see 7668. .5 - ditto, but before .4, with the tram rounding the corner from the North side of Sturt St into Drummond St. It would then appear that the tram then reversed a bit before going back into Sturt St onto the South side.
