This book, written by Dr Jodie Fleming, is a memoir of her experiences with breast cancer. Dr Fleming, a clinical and health psychologist, lived for some time in Warrnambool and underwent some of her medical treatment in that city. The book gives readers an insight into the physical and mental state of a breast cancer sufferer and offers guidance, inspiration and support to others in the same situation. This book is of some interest as it is written by a one-time resident of Warrnambool and details her experiences as a breast cancer survivor. This is a soft cover book of 240 pages. The children in this photograph are Frank abd Ivy Warren. Helena Francis Warren (nee McKeown) was married to William John Warren and lived in Newmerella. She supplied the photos for the Back-To-Orbost celebration book in 1937 and also designed the Back-To-Orbost badge. She was known for her soft toy making. This wire soap holder is purpose-made by hand for holding a bar of soap in a way that allows the soap to air dry. It may have been used in the laundry, bathroom or kitchen, areas used for washing hands or bodies. Wet bars of soap could become very soft and difficult to use. The wall hanging was handwoven by Lilian Joyce Mann from hand spun fleece, natural coloured wool and vegetable dyed wool. Ms Mann owned a shop in Jacob Street which sold handmade soft toys and hand woven items. She was a founding and life member of the Geelong Handweavers and Spinners Guild. The pram is light in weight. Made of black vinyl with a metal frame. A handle with wooden grips is used to push the pram from behind. It has four spoked wheels with rubber tyres. The hood can be unlocked and folded down as can the handle which folds over the top of the pram body for ease of transport. The pram contains a soft kapok fitted mattress with white heirloom lace frilled cover and a soft pillow covered with a white cotton pillowcase with a chicken and flowers embroidered on it.None

This book is a Yangery State School book owned by Tom Johnston in 1896. Yangery State School was established as a National School in 1858 with George McKay as the first head teacher. In 1909 the name was changed to Illowa and it was closed in 1970. We do not have many historical items that are associated with the old Yangery school. The Johnston family was associated with the Tower Hill/ Illowa area from the 1850s. " Sea View" was occupied by the McCullough family in the early 20th century.This book is retained because of its relationship with the Yangery State School and the Johnston family.This is a soft covered book of 118 pages. Book was awarded to Stephen John Holgate in 1891 for first prize in bookkeeping. Stephen (D.O.B. 09/07/1877) entered the college on 27/01/1890. The original registry notes parent as Stephen Holgate from Miners Rest and Stephen's previously school is noted as 'Home Tuition'. Other family members noted as attending the college are Harold, George, Edward, Robert and Thomas. Archives also hold war memorabilia for Edward and George Holgate.Presbyterian educators placed great value on a classical education matched with diligence in study. Book prizes were highly regarded and academic success admired. In the school’s early years prizes were ordered direct from London and had the school crest embossed in gold on the front or back cover.
