Typed copy of recount by Albert Richardson of a fire at Unity Mine on Tuesday 8-10-1907. Report from the Bendigo Advertiser Wednesday October 9th 1907. Notes mention Fire Brigade, miners, how the fire started and how the men down the shaft escaped when the rope crash down the shaft. On the back is a handwritten carbon copy of notes titled Famous Gold Mines of Bendigo and Eaglehawk. Notes give yields of gold for alluvial and quartz mining. Deep Shafts in 1904 of which there were eleven with a depth of more than 3000 feet and 53 over 2000 feet and two which were more than 4000 feet. Wages for 1911 for Engine Drivers and Firemen and Boiler Attendants. B&W photo of an open tray truck parked in front of a fuel pump on rough open ground with trees in the background. There is a tall pole beside the pump. The truck has 'MILL ENDS Phone EMERALD 61' painted on the side of the tray, and 'W. J. Hermon/EMERALD/61' painted on the door. There is a manually operated turning indicator – a large white hand shape on a pivoting rod – attached to the door. It appears that the signal is operated through the open driver's window. An unidentified man is in the driver's seat and he is smiling at the camera. Dated 1948. -

Newspaper clipping from a newspaper (possibly Melbourne Sun) of 17/9/1970, reporting on the a head - on collision or accident between tram and a semi trailer in Ballarat the previous night. Reports on the injuries to the passenger (Maree Matthews), truck driver (Ronald Cox) and the tram driver (Ian Tierney), gives names and details, time of collision, location and the name and account of an eye-witness. Lifeguard Milk was a product name for milk sold by the Bacchus Marsh Dairymen's Co-operative Association and its subsidiary the Federal Milk company. In 1938 the Diaryman's co-operative began trading as the Lieguard Milk Company.
