Most schools unaware of any plans for merger.Wih the State Government's position well known on school mergers, "The Mail" surveyed Maroondah's schools on the same subject. Most of the surveyed schools said they knew nothing of any planned mergers, or they did not wish to comment. No school said they were in favour of mergers in Maroondah. ` -

Enlisted 2.7.1940 age 36 years 6 months, appointed L/Cpl 12.8.1940, embark for the Middle East 27.8.1940, serves in Seige of Tobruk, he spends time in Hospital, embarks for Australia 2.4.1942 and is discharged Medically unfit on 29.9.1942. Walter John Hickford, painter and businessman, was Mayor of Warrnambool 1895-6-7 and President of the Committee that organised the Warrnambool Industrial and Art Exhibition of 1896-7. A skilled decorative artist, he carried out art work in private homes, businesses and churches. His shop in Liebig Street supplied paint materials for households, tradesmen and artists. Hickford Parade is named after Walter Hickford. Yields information about the correspondence that was sent to various parties about the opening of tram tracks for underground services in Bendigo.Set of four documents: .1 - Letter on SECV letterhead, "Bendigo Electricity Supply and Tramways", not dated, gives phone number, address, duplicated in black ink, titled "Crossing Under Tramway Tracks", consisting of one foolscap sheet. Would have been written as a base letter to go various bodies, has the word "Manager" on the very bottom of the page. Outlines the processes that have to be undertaken in order to install pipelines under tram tracks. This colour photograph, with 15 others are enlargements gifted to the Society by Mel Lawrence in 2016.
