This rubberised waterproof sheet was introduced in 1917 and intended primarily for lying on or wrapping around bedding rolls but it also served as a rudimentary rain coat. These two plans are copies and show drawings for a proposed turntable at the Warrnambool Railway Station and railway crossings at Gilles Street in the Liebig Street precinct. The Warrnambool Railway was opened in 1890 and the Warrnambool Railway Station building was erected a few years later. These plans, being copies, are of minor interest as they show plans of some projects in the Warrnambool Railway Station precinct in the latter half of the 20th century.These are two sheets of cream-coloured paper with plans (copies of original) drawn up in black ink. The drawings are fading somewhat and are faint in places. Wal Jack had an extensive range of correspondents throughout Australia and the world who often prepared extensive notes and records for him. This letter from Wal Larsen of Bright, dated 16 Aug 1945 describes a trip to Tenterfield, notes on crews, their hats, station layouts and detailed map. With the letter is a plan of the station layouts of the West Tamworth to Barraba line dated 6-10-45. Set of two Newspaper clippings pasted onto a single sheet of paper with two Punch holes on the left hand side. Clipping from The Courier, Ballarat, 19/8/1971; two letters to the Editor, about the closure of the Ballarat tramways, that some of the trams and line should be saved and what the aims of the BTPS are. The first from a person titled "All Het Up", and the second from John Anderson of P.O. Box 145 Box Hill. The second clipping from The Sun, Melbourne dated 14/7/1971 written by Keith Dunstan in his column, "A Place in the Sun" about the forthcoming closure of the Ballarat and Bendigo systems. Has a photo of a Bendigo Birney tram and notes their rarity. The second part is about the formation of the BTPS, which has 100 paid up members and quotes Shane McCarthy, a committeeman. The property was sold following Alfred Herbert’s death in 1929. Mrs Champion later owned the property. Charmandene Guest House was located on the beach front along Lover's Walk. Augustus Bostock was the 9th child of Robert & Rachael Bostock of Vaucluse Epping Forest, Van Diemen’s Land. He was only 4 years old when his mother died. He was inspired by his father to seek his fortune in the Western District of Victoria. He arrived around 1850. He married Margaret Aitkin in July 1865. Augustus owned several properties in the district and leased others. He sat on the court of Warrnambool, Mortlake or Hexham as required. He resided at Marramook in Hawkesdale and later moved to Vaucluse in Hopetoun Road Warrnambool, where he died in 1920 at the age of 87. He was involved in many aspects of life in the Western District, racing, cricket, and social activities to name a few. Augustus Bostock worked as sheep classer for the Delatite station at the turn of the century. This is one of a number of documents which relate to the Bostock family who were one of the most important pioneering families of the Western District.
