Clothing - MARGARET (NELL) TIMBS (NEE HEIDER) COLLECTION: HANRO LADIES’ JUMPER AND CARDIGAN
Long sleeved tangerine coloured ladies’ jumper with a small peaked revere collar and a 6cm long opening, fastened by one small plastic pearl button and woollen loop. Raglan sleeves with a patterned effect on the raglan shaping and a seven cm ribbed cuffs at the wrists. Three cm ribbed band at the waistline. Tangerine V necked long sleeved ladies’ cardigan with five plastic pearl button fastening. Raglan sleeves with a patterned effect on the raglan shaping and seven cm ribbed cuffs at the wrists. Three cm ribbed band at the waistline. Three cm ribbed band around front opening with a patterned effect adjoining the body of the garment. Formerly owned by Margaret (Nell) Timbs nee Heider who worked at Hanro in the Finishing Department about 1935. Donated by her daughter Yvonne Knipe who worked at Hanro in the Office from 1961, then at John Brown until 1968.Tag. Swiss inspired Hanro. SW. Pure Wool. Mothproof. Original label still attached. This is a guaranteed Hanro Hanrosafe garment. It is thoroughly shrinkproof and machine washable. Style 759, Size SW, Colour A39. Uniform - Blazer, David Lack Pty Ltd, Methodist Girls' Comradeship
The Methodist Girls' Comradeship was formed in 1918 with the first Branch being in Bondi, NSW. There were three sections: Junior Rays, 8 - 11 years; Senior Rays, 11 - 15 years and Comrades, 15 years and over. The aims of the MGC was to "challenge young people with the saving power of Jesus Christ and provide avenues of christian service" and "to provide for the spiritual, social, physical and educational welfare of the members". The MGC's motto was "The Utmost for the Highest". Navy blue wool blazer with a pocket on the left breast with an appliqued Victoria Tasmania Methodist Girls' Comrades emblem. The blazer has yellow grosgrain ribbon at the cuffs and the top of the three pockets; it has two buttons and a button hole on the left lapel. Uniform - 8/13 VMR uniform, 1978 circa
This uniform was worn by Lieutenant Colonel D J Hunter OAM RFD when serving with the 8th/13th Victorian Mounted Rifles. Lt Col Hunter joined 8/13 VMR from 20th National Service Training Battalion in 1956 and served with the regiment till 1967, and again 1977-1980. 8/13 VMR was raised as part of the Citizen Military Forces in May 1948 and was linked with 4th/19th Prince of Wales's Light Horse in October 1990 as part of an Army reorganisation.This uniform is well provenanced, complete and in good condition, and is representative of the uniform worn by an officer of the 8th/13th Victorian Mounted Rifles, a regiment with lineage dating from 1885, but no longer an active regiment in the Australian Army.Khaki wool fabric battledress style jacket with embroidered badges of rank and shoulder titles, yellow cord lanyard, and ribbon bar denoting Australian Active Service Medal, Vietnam Logistic and Support Medal, Australian Service Medal 1945-75, Reserve Forces Decoration and Commemoration of National Service Medal.victorian mounted rifles, uniform -

Outfit, Three-piece woman's outfit, 1960s
This outfit belonged to Bernice Overend, a longtime Brighton resident. Bernice Adelaide Emily Lawn was born in Ballarat in 1911. In 1938 she married Acheson Best Overend (1909-1977), an early modernist architect in Melbourne whose notable designs include the heritage-listed Cairo Flats apartment building in Fitzroy. Bernice and Best made a home together in Brighton, raising their family at 80 Were Street. Their son Darren followed in Best's footsteps, becoming an architect, and in 1979 he and his wife Jenny bought a property just down the road from his childhood home - the heritage-listed 1881 Victorian mansion 'Chevy Chase' at 203 Were Street. Bernice lived in the house with with Darren, Jenny and their three children.Three-piece woman's outfit comprising double-breasted cape, cropped sleeveless top and skirt; cream wool woven with silver lurex. Top is decorated with a centre front fabric bow and is decoarated with fake pearls. Clothing - Fletcher Jones Man's Sports Coat, 1970s
This sports coat was made at a Fletcher Jones factory about the 1970s. David Fletcher Jones (1895-1977) served in World War One and in the 1920s set up as a travelling hawker selling drapery in Western Victoria. In 1924 he leased three shops in Liebig Street, Warrnambool and in 1928 opened his Man's Shop at the intersection of Koroit/Liebig Streets. He manufactured men's clothing on site in a new building erected in 1931. In 1946 a Fletcher Jones shop was opened in Melbourne and in 1948 a factory was established in Warrnambool with a new company Fletcher Jones and Staff established in 1951.This company then operated in other States and known Australia-wide firstly for its production of men's trousers and later for men's and women's clothing. By 2011 the Warrnambool factory was closed and the company dissolved. This coat was bought by Lew Officer, a member of a family with pastoral interests in the Western District.This item is of considerable historical interest as an example of the high quality work produced by the Fletcher Jones and Staff Clothing Stores. This company was a key industry in Warrnambool in the 20th centuryThis is a man's sports coat made of Harris tweed hand woven in the Outer Hebrides made from Scottish-grown wool. The checked material is in brown tonings. The coat has a brown material lining and there are two brown buttons down the front and two on each sleeve. As part of the exhibition the National Wool Museum joined with Pyrenees Presents Inc to attempt to set a record for the most number of handmade pom pom sheep exhibited.
