Photos of an event at Brighton Grammar Junior School to honour the Late Legatee Tom Bell. One photo shows Legatee Chas Wilks with Mrs Dorothy Bell sitting with a Brighton school boy playing the trumpet near them. The other photo shows students assembled for the service. A tree was planted in tribute to Legatee Tom Bell. In later years the boys from Brighton Grammar Junior School raised money from the sale of Legacy badges and the serving Legacy President would present them with a plaque of appreciation and photos were taken in front of the tree planted in honour of a late Legatee Tom Bell. Between 1991and 1995 the boys raised in excess of $16,000. Poster, Dugout Night
Dugout Night is an annual event where Legatees gather and enjoy the company of fellow Legatees ("comradeship"), usually in April, close to Anzac Day. A dugout in wartime provides protection for soldiers from small arms fire, artillery bombardment and attack from the air. The sign could have been made to publicise Dugout night or most likely as a caption for photographs of the event displayed at Legacy House.Legatees supported each other by coming together for various events throughout the year. The residents of Mt Beauty and the Kiewa Valley swam in the local East and West Kiewa Rivers. The community began planning the building of a swimming pool at Mt Beauty in the early 1960s and held events to raise money for it. The slides have been photographed to make digital images and moved to archive quality sleeves. A group of children in Geelong who's fathers had served during the first World War. The RSSILA (precursor to the RSL) had held an event for them and took this photo which was then distributed to the families at Christmas 1919. Margaret Burn is possibly one in the front row and her family donated the photo. Margaret later attended girls classes with Geelong Legacy in the 1930s and Legacy helped her find employment when she left school. Rippon Lea mansion and garden was created for Sir Frederick Sargood, a wealthy Melbourne businessman, politician and philanthropist. This is why the program notes that the event was 'By kind permission of Liert. -Col. Sir Fred. Sargood, K.C.M.G.' This colour photograph, with 15 others are enlargements gifted to the Society by Mel Lawrence in 2016.
