From 1884 College Cups were donated by the Old Collegians Association for the outstanding athlete amongst ‘present boys’ and ‘past boys’. It is obvious from written records and the inscriptions on the cups themselves that two cups were awarded to students – a Junior Cup and a Senior Cup. One cup was awarded to the outstanding old collegian athlete. John Mercer Walker (BD 23/02/1888) attended Ballarat College 1899 - 1904. Son of J T Walker 125 Dana St, Brother of Stanley, Harold J & Leslie, Uncle of John S & Lynette, John was Dux of the school in 1904. He was killed serving with the airforce in WW1. The Veterans Plate trophy was awarded at the Annual Sports Day. Thomas Anderson (BD 30/06/1886) entered Ballarat College in 1903 as a 17yo. He was the son of J W T Anderson of Waubra and had previously attended Waubra SS VI Class. The Ballarat Old Collegians Association notes in The Minervan 1913 that "each year the Association presents to the College Sports committee the College Cups (Senior and Junior), the Old Collegians Cup and the Veterans Plate. Delia Faye (Cowie) Mansell (BD 19/09/1943) attended CPLC 1956-1960. She received a H V McKay Scholarship and was Vice Captain on Cairns House. Faye trained in nursing after school. Archives also holds Faye's 1956 Junior championship trophy, 1958 Intermediate Championship trophy, 1960 Senior championship trophy, blazer pocket with insignia and house colour.
