Yields information about the condition of the ESCo tram fleet at the time of the SEC takeover of the operations their appearance, the reconstruction work and trackwork to rehabilitate the system. Demonstrates an important era of the Ballarat Tramways through the SEC preparing an album of photographs. Black & White Photograph of one of the ESCo Toastracks being assembled in the Exhibition Buildings in Grenville St., north of the Alfred Hall in 1905. The other open Toastrack or Summer tramcar is behind this tram, with other California Combination cars on the sides. The trams have yet to be fitted with wheels or equipment, including headlights. No. 16 has two uniformed men at the front and a conductor on the rear stop, two children on the front seat and a lady on the rear. A uniformed horse tram driver is standing by the front of the horse. No. 16 has the destination of Grenville St, and a large sign "Sebastopol & Rubicon St Tramways via Drummond St". The destination is on the roof of the tram, possibly indicating early 1907 - 08. Used in The Golden City and its Tramways - page 42. Text notes the photograph was donated by a Mrs. I Butler.
