This bible was originally owned by a World War 2 Australian Army serviceman, Gunner A. E. Sands, service number V 195271.The sleeve is labelled ""ACTIVE SERVICE" EDITION, OXFORD TEXT BIBLE, Oxford India Paper, Beryl 32mo, SA2701/2" The bible is inscribed "HOLY BIBLE" in gold embossed letters on the front cover and the spine, there is also the word "OXFORD" in gold embossed letters on the spine.
