Suggests using the compressor circuit for this instead. Victoria Police ID for Constable R D Finch, No. 6779 to enable tram travel for payment of a 1 1/2d fare for each single journey. Dated 3/10/1923. An extract of the Police Record shows that Constable Finch took part in the 1923 Police strike (see reference) and his employment was terminated. Certificate of Identity made our for Constable R D Finch, No. 6779, dated 3-10-23 entitling the bearer to 1 1/2d fares on Melbourne's electric trams. Signed by the Chief Commissioner. At the time, the CBD was largely served by cable trams though from the MMTB Minutes of 1923, police officers were given travel concessions. Ron Bridger was an avid collector of items related to transport, predominately Trams. These items include newspaper cuttings, pamphlets, reports, timetables, fares prices plus special items relating to events. Items from Melbourne and regional Victoria, interstate - Adelaide and Sydney, plus overseas, make up this collection. The Annual Meeting of the Ballarat Tramways Preservation Society was held On Saturday, 10 August, 1974. The President of the Society, Mr Calnin, outlined the plans to have the trams back on the tracks by Christmas 1974. Thirty members had applied for training to crew the trams.
