Scrap Book - with printed cardboard covers - titled scrap book on outside and reproductions of newspaper clippings printed onto covers, 64 pages off white paper. Scrap book compiled by Neville Gower from Nov. 1992 to June 1997. Primarily consists of newspaper clippings glued to the pages involving the Ballarat Tramway Museum. Also contained are other items of relevant interest, such as BTM brochures. Pages number in pencil by Warren Doubleday 2/2001. Where relevant some items contained in this book have been separately catalogued to enable easier reference. Some items were already in the collection and are thereby reference with their registered number. Also contains registered items 1659, 1654 and 1655. Set of 5 SEC decimal tickets found in a tramcar, 28, 1/1999, No. 1 end north side. Tickets have been used and are generally in a good condition. The image file shows the nature of the damage. Tickets have not been individually numbered with the Registration Number, but can be identified by their ticket number and denomination. Set of five maps prepared by the SEC/Transport Regulation Board? reviewing the option for Ballarat bus routes after the closure of the Ballarat tramway system. Based on SEC drawing No. BA-D1-2222, drawn at 1" = 20 chains. Shows streets in Ballarat and Sebastopol areas. 1775.1 - tram lines shown in heavy blue lines, with grey and yellow (actual operating bus routes at the time?) routes marked out. A red dashed line defines the general built up area. 1775.2 - "PLAN A" - shows various routes in different colours for Davis, Sproule, Hick ex Whkes, Lyons, Braybrooks and Witkins services and existing tram lines. 1775.3 - "Plan B" 1775.4 - "Plan C" 1775.5 - "Plan D" 1175.6 - Plan as above, but showing existing bus routes, tram routes and suggested tram routes. Badge - ESCo Conductor, Stokes & Sons Melbourne, 1905
Yields information about the identification methods used by the ESCo to identify their crews to public and has a strong association with the individuals who wore them over time.Pressed metal uniform badge for ESCo Conductors. Round pressed steel badge with the words "ESCo OF V. LTD." pressed into the badge around the top portion of the badge, the word "CONDUCTOR" and number "13" pressed into the lower half of the badge -with small horizontal lines within the individual letters. Appears to have had a nickel silver finish originally. On rear badge two metal lugs have been soldered onto the badge. Has words "STOKES & SONS" stamped in reverse on the lower rear of the badge. Set of two (2) sheets, typed on thin paper, detailing Conductors' Runs, for Mount Pleasant and Victoria St routes for Mondays to Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Not dated. Gives run details for 12 Conductor runs Monday to Saturday and 6 on Sunday. Gives a 20min service on lines on Sundays and 20 min service at the end of the day. See Reg. Item 2993 for Sebastopol line runs. Each run details where the driver/conductor would sign on, time, the trips, meal breaks, finish time and the total time of the shift. Stored separately with these sheets are a photocopies of each sheet reduced to A4 size and full size copies made on A3 paper. Set of 20 No. 35mm Agfa colour blue and white plastic mount slide - of the move of Ballarat trams 38 and 40 from the old SEC Depot to the new BTPS depot, via the temporary access track on Tuesday 18 July 1972. .1 - Front of SEC depot with 38 and 40 still in shed, with back part demolished. .2 - No. 40 towed out of the depot by John Withers land rover. Demonstrates aspects of the Ballarat Tramways management system of Motorman's' rosters interfacing during the last full period of operation of the tramway from March 1970. Shows the services and how the various run or crew tables were arranged in relation to the overall timetable. Missing Sebastopol sheets and all sheets for weekends at as 7/2006.Photo copy of a handwritten sheet on graph paper for the arrangement of the Weekdays Rosters on Mt Pleasant - Gardens and, Victoria St - Gardens routes. Gives the various run numbers, sign on location, trip take times, notes on what to do with trams, sign off times, interface with other runs. Shows the full or basic 20 min service during the day and 30 mins at night. Show how the various run or crew tables were arranged to provide the service overall. Significant in being a detailed set of instructions for the Forest City signalling system that was operated by the tram's trolley pole. Details of the locations and crossing loops where used, primarily around the loop and through Bridge St. and how it operated. Prepared and printed by the SEC during 1965.Five page, foolscap duplicated document, stapled in two locations along the top edge, titled Forest City Signals, and dated 20-1-1965, giving details about the Forest City signalling system installed in Ballarat. Explains how the system operates, gives instructions, details of the system, location of the loops, trams following each other, power failure. Also gives details of how the Bridge St system operated and the switch at Grenville St. Gives instructions for running out of the depot. Has a strong association with Theo Dunstan Inspector in Ballarat; would have been issued to crews in order to hold coins within their cash bags.Manufactured coin dispenser for 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 cent coins, made from blue, white and red plastic with metal springs under each red coin support plate. Demonstrates the Museum's ticketing systems and ongoing production of tickets.Block of 200 tickets - light red ink on off white paper, original denomination 5c, lettered A 175000 to A 175199, headed Ballarat Tourist Tramway and over stamped "CHECK TICKET NO VALUE". The 200 tickets have been stapled onto a heavy cardboard back with a heavy metal staple. See also Reg. Item 2234 for over stamped 5c tickets using a different stamp. The tickets are in the style of the former State Electricity Commission of Victoria tramway tickets. Original block A100000 to A100200 added 30/6/2004 - from BTM archives., Note different stamped used on ticket. Tickets originally printed for general use on the trams 1974.
