These medals were produced, given to visiting dignitaries and sold to the general public. The occasion was the 150th anniversary of the founding of the settlement of Warrnambool in 1847. The celebrations in 1997 were organized by the Warrnambool 150th Anniversary Co-ordinating Committee headed by Frank Jacobs, These limited edition medals are an important memento of the celebrations held in Warrnambool in 1997 to mark the 150th anniversary of the city. These are two medals struck to commemorate Warrnambool’s 150th anniversary in 1997. The medals are circular in shape and brass and have an image of a sailing ship. These are two of a production of 500 medals. The medals are in a green plastic box with a cloth covering inside.
