A postcard to the Comradeship Committee when a Legatee was travelling in France. The postcard was addressed to the Legatee Chairman of the Comradeship Committee. Dated 3 Feb 1983. It is signed GRIFF, it says: The French experience I should have had years ago. I am in the DORDONGE after spending some days at LA ROCHELLE on the Atlantic coast. The provincial French are courteous, generous, helpful and so elegant. Work I did with my French mistress at the Wesley Church has paid great dividends although today may be tough. I give 40 children (aged 10-14) their first ever Scottish Country dance lesson. The goose hatched in March lives a normal farmyard life till October, then it is force fed for three weeks and then 'WHAM' and PATE. Next meeting at Norton - France! We've had 4 days ON Dartmoor, not IN Dartmoor. In view of our name, we keep a low profile so as not to be invited to stay!! Most of the Moor is a very beautiful place, especially around Widecombe-in-the-Moor! We're keeping well and should see you all in the middle of August. A postcard to the Comradeship Committee when a Legatee was travelling in Austria. "Bozen mit Blick each Osten" which translates as "Bolzano with view to the east". It is addressed to Mr H Caffrey, Chairman Comradeship at Melbourne Legacy. It is not dated and is signed Brian Lucky Luscombe. It says: "While lunching on a balcony overlooking this lovely place, I thought of soup, sandwiches and scones and Melbourne Legacy. And then Mary said "have another glass of red". At 6000 lire a bottle it's not too bad. We escaped the Italian airline/train strike and are now safely in the land of the Sound of Music. Another 5 weeks of this summer in sunny Europe and I'll be back to annoy you. And you'd better have a new job for me. Regards. .1 Postcard size Souvenir Tram ticket, printed using blue ink on one side with fare, photos of power station, engine room, boiler room and a tram & No. 1887 stamped on edge. On reverse side is space for stamp, address etc., - with line & "postcard' etc., printed in red ink. Letter/note to Miss A Coote of St Kilda, stamped in Ballarat on 22-8-1905. Fares given on card are : Mount Pleasant and Orphanage and Grenville St. 3d, or Grenville St. and Tram sheds 3d. Printed in a blue/grey ink of various shades onto a white card. Acted as a souvenir card. The letter writer notes the opening of the tramway and having a glorious holiday. One Penny stamp, with Ballarat Cancellation stamp and - "5" stamped on the top of the postage stamp. Brown leather covers, over heavy board, tied together with a black shoe lace, light grey paper inside covers holding some 63 sheets of card on which photos have been mounted using photo corners of various types, captions in blue or black ink. Has some 392 black and white photographs including some postcards. Has photos of various locations and lines within Adelaide, includes works trams, buses, trolley buses, arranged by tramcar class in some places. Includes horse trams at Goolwa and Victor Harbor, Port Adelaide steam tram. Album Scanned Dec. 2019 prior to forward 7 packets of negatives to the collection of the AETM via John Radcliffe. Brown album marked "Photographs" on the front cover with a tooled vinyl cover, held by brass screws, containing 66 pages (including inside of covers and two blank pages) of paper (black, off white, light green, orange and brown paper) containing some 277 photographs, postcards, including some coloured postcards of Ballarat, including horse trams, ESCo and SEC trams. Each photo page has been scanned to a TIFF file with photo corners. Postcard contained within the Wal Jack Bendigo and Geelong Album, see Reg Item 5003 for more details. Valentine Series Postcard, No. 498 looking north along Moorabool St, Geelong with Birney No. 14 approaching the camera on the single line section. The tram has the destination of South (prior to extension from the Barwon River to Belmont in 1927) and is fitted with two trolley poles. There are two other trams in the photograph along with many motor vehicles and horse drawn vehicles - mid 1920's. Moorabool St has centre poles. In the photo are Sully's National Hotel, White Hart Hotel, Leitch Cycles and sports goods and a T&G building (prior to the new one being built?).
