1. Mechanics Institute:- this building was built in 1883 and designed by H E Tolhurst. It included a library, reading room, museum, billiard room and mineral collection. 2. Town Hall:- the current building was built in 1901 on the site of an earlier Town Hall. The architects were Williamson& Permewan of Melbourne. 3. Cannons:- were recovered from HMVS Nelson, a wooden steam ship that was one of the first of the colonies warships when it was on permanent loan from Britain from 1867. It ws then broken up in 1929. 4. The Northern District School of Nursing opened in 1950 in to address the issues around nurse recruitment, training and education that had previously been hospital based. The residential school was to provide theoretical and in-house education and practical training over three years. The students would also receive practical hands-on training in the wards of associated hospitals. The Northern District School of Nursing operated from Lister House, Rowan Street, Bendigo.
