The postcard was sent to E. Ryan, informing that he has been selected in the Essendon 18 to play the Elwood 23 the following Saturday, telling him to meet at the Bush Inn at 1.45pm and reminding him to bring his team uniform.The postcard is significant because it illustrates the formal way in which players were informed of their selection in the team. It also illustrates the difference between senior and junior teams in the VFA at the time; Essendon fielded a team of 18 players whereas Elwood was allowed a team of 23.Buff cardboard postcard with image of mauve Victoria 1d stamp in top right corner, "postcard" in banner in top centre of card and decorative mauve border.Postcard is addressed to "Mr E. Postcard written by Slavica Risek at 11 years of age to her grandmother on arrival to Australia from Croatia. She was travelling on the Angelina Lauro passenger ship with her brother, mother and father c.1969. She describes her cabin is located at the first windows at the bow of the ship. The postcard was never posted. This was during a time that Australia was recruiting labourers from Europe. Postcard with coloured photograph of King Edward VII in a red ceremonial uniform with gold and pale blue trim. Parts of the uniform have been glittered and sequins used on the medals. There is a 7mm cream coloured border at the bottom and a 3mm cream coloured border at the top and sides. On the bottom border left hand side is printed 61 Z. In the middle of the border are the words H.M. King Edward VII. On the right hand side J Beagles & Co E.C. Diagonally across the lower right hand corner of the photograph is printed in yellow Russell & Sons. Postcard has been attached to another piece of card of equal size, however has become largely unstuck. On the reverse across the top appear the words Portrait Bas-Relief Card, The J.B. & Co. Series. Card has been addressed to Miss Dean McKenzie Street Golden Square. A 1 penny stamp with a postmark of Golden Square 27 August 1907 is in the top right corner.J Beagles & Co Londonpostcard
