Illustration. Taken and cut from a book. View of bridge across Salt Creek. Bridge has the appearance of being timber and features to the left of the bridge a half arch opening through to the other side of the creek. 3 people are on the bridge. Fore ground has part of a fence visible through long grass and some shrubbery. Observatory Hill in background with a large cross structure on the top to the left. A road or path is visible up the side of the hill towards a dwelling with a panel fence and trees. Two people are on the path and what appears to be 3 sheep to the left of them grazing on the hill. The Polly Woodside was built in Belfast in 1885, the three-masted cargo vessel carried coal and wheat between England and South America.Wooden wall plaque - a carving of the 'Polly Woodside. It is stained, gold with brown tones. In a frame which is painted gold, 3 strips of timber screwed to back of plaque, top bottom and centre. The Cutty Sark is a British clipper ship which was built in Scotland in 1869. She made the trip between England and Australia carrying wool. The model was made by Thomas Ward, harbour master at Portland from 1885 - 1896.Ship's model in glass-fronted timber case. In 2014 the house still stands but is in poor condition with most interior features removed. The site had a heritage overlay as shown. The case was provided by the Sullivan family in memory of John Loring Sullivan who was lost at sea on 30.11.1934.Circular ring, white and red painted canvas on buoyant material perhaps cork. "Coramba' and PORT FAIRY lettered in black. A rope loop fastened in 4 places around the edge of the buoy. The buoy hangs in a glass fronted clear finish timber case, stands vertically on 2 timber footings. The 2 hanging brackets are made form stainless steel. There is no apparent evidence that this item has formally come under the responsibility of Glenelg Shire Council, although through practice, and community expectation, Glenelg Shire Council has assumed responsibility for its care and maintenance. Efforts to identify its status are continuing.Maritime jetty crane consisting of cast iron gears and housing, struts, supports, pulleys and timber masts. Functional object - Compass, Compass from ex-wreck of S.S. Barwon, 1860-1870
S.S. Barwon was built in 1868, 419 tons gross. 376 tons nett, length 172.3 feet, beam 21.6 ft depth 14 feet. Bound from Adelaide to Sydney when total wrecked in Bridgewater Bay 3 April 1871. Owned by the Henty's. No loss of life. The Master Captain Shoobert and the second mate were found guilty of faulty navigation.Compass - ex-wreck of S.S. Barwon, lost of Cape Bridgewater 1871.
