THE FLIGHT LOG REVEALS HIS SUBSEQUENT CAREER, WHICH COMMENCED WITH PILOT TRAINING AT BENALLA, VICTORIA 23/8/1942, TRANSFERED TO MALLALA SA OCT 1942 TO FEBRUARY 1943, THENCE TO CROUGHTON UK FROM 30 JUNE 1943 TO SEPTEMBER 1943 FOR FURTHER TRAINING, AT HUSBANDS BOSWORTH SEPTEMBER 1943 TO OCTOBER 1943, COMMENCED OPERATIONAL FLIGHTS OUT OF MARKET HARBOROUGH 18 OCTOBER 1943 THEN VARIOUS SQUADRONS IN BOMBING RUNS OVER EUROPE UNTIL 7TH MAY 1944 WHEN HIS LANCASTER BOMBER FAILED TO RETURN.. K R Warren was aged twenty when given command of a Lancaster bomber in the RAF. A Legacy widow, Beryl Tucker and Legatee Eddie Jowett posing as if they were dancing, for a professional photographer. The photo was featured in the 30 September 1991 issue of the Widows' Newsletter. The article mentions that Legatee Jowett coordinates a month concert at Legacy House on the first Monday of the month. The concerts are free to Legacy widows and the artist are first class professionals. Around 180 widows attend regularly. Legatee Jowett had a regular saying, almost a commandment to the ladies when it was time to leave: "You are never dressed until you are wearing a smile". Gangway banner from the Fremantle class Patrol boat HMAS Bendigo (11) P211. Decommissioned at Cairns on 9 September 2006. Two banners presented to Training Ship Bendigo staff - one for RSL Museum and one for Training Ship.This is a heavy duty vinyl banner used on the ships gangway. Background colour is blue with the words HMAS BENDIGO printed in yellow paint along the banner. At each end of the banner is the crest of HMAS BENDIGO. The crest shows a rope circle and in the centre is the top of a battlement with the flag of the Southern Cross. Above the rope circle is a stylised crown with parts of a sailing ship on the crown. Under the rope circle are a stone axe, a nulla nulla and a boomerang. Under the weapons on a banner are the words in English "Advance with Purpose". From the 1940s it was known as Stokes orchard. In later years it has been subdivided for residential purposes but leaving significant areas as power line and water supply reserves and bushland reserves that are habitat for the threatened For our excursion on 6th September we intend to walk through CA 15 to a bushland reserve east of Reynolds Road. The walk will traverse the boundary between suburban Eltham and the non-urban areas to the south and east. This is a pleasant walk through residential areas and bushland. Along the way we will discuss the early and more recent history of CA 15 as well as local natural history and geology. This walk is about 3.5 km in length and will take 2 to 2.5 hours. The walk will traverse the boundary between suburban Eltham and the non-urban areas to the south and east. This is a pleasant walk through residential areas and bushland. Along the way we will discuss the early and more recent history of CA 15 as well as local natural history and geology. This walk is about 3.5 km in length and will take 2 to 2.5 hours. Newsletter No. 218, September 2014 September Excursion - East of Eltham Walk In Newsletter No. 197, March 2011, there was a brief history of Crown Allotment 15 Section 5 Parish of Nillumbik (CA 15) a parcel of land of a quarter of a square mile extending from Eucalyptus Road to Reynolds Road at the eastern extremity of Eltham. From the 1940s it was known as Stokes orchard. In later years it has been subdivided for residential purposes but leaving significant areas as power line and water supply reserves and bushland reserves that are habitat for the threatened For our excursion on 6th September we intend to walk through CA 15 to a bushland reserve east of Reynolds Road.
