French Music in the XIX Century by Arthur Hervey. Inside front cover photo of Corporal P.T. Knight whose death in France has just been announced. Mr. Knight was an employee of Allan's, Mitchell Street, Bendigo. He left Australia with the 8th reinforcement for the 6th Brigade. He was well known and much esteemed in Bendigo. He was the solo violin with the Bendigo Lyric Orchestra, also a member of the Military Band, Bendigo. Document. Occasionally used Postmarks - Bendigo Showground. In 1934 The Old 'Military Camp/Bendigo' postmark was used. Military Camp postmark being erased and Showground being inserted in ink. Inset - the same Postmark used as a 'relief' at Bendigo PO in 1952. In 1935, a different type of relief Postmarker was used at the Showgrounds Post office. The Postmarker that refused to die.(Being Military if simply faded away).
