This banner was produced by the Gay Solidarity Group (GSG) for use in the first Mardi Gras, one of the events held as part of the Day of International Gay Solidarity, held on 24 June 1978. The banner was displayed on the side of the truck that was used in the Mardi Gras. The Fisher family lived at Waterloo farm, Smythe's Road, near Ballarat. Alice Russell Shaw the daughter of Jessie Black Hamilton and John Shaw, married Albert Fisher in 1909 and had 10 children by him. They lived at Waterloo farm, Smythe's Road. Alice Russell Fisher (Shaw) was known as 'Queenie' Fisher. This family farmed in the Smythe's area for many years. They produced fine milk and butter. Jean, their second eldest child recalled that when they made the butter sculptures they used plenty of salt so that it wouldn't melt. Initially serviced by a weatherboard building as school No. 221, the brick building was opened by the Minister of Education in February 1881. Two part printed and perforated ticket, using red or orange ink on white paper with a gummed back - used 1966 to 1969. Form No. TYE-3-590 The upper portion has a gummed strip on the rear, with price and ticket number printed onto the lower edge. The lower portion was retained by the sender, was to be initialled by the conductor, organisation name, "Parcel Ticket 10c", conditions of use, ticket number and a space where to be initialled by the conductor.
