This Scrapbook contains, among other things, newspapers clippings and annual reports relating to the Adult Deaf Missions of Victoria and South Australia as well as clippings from various Deaf magazines printed in Great Britian. The compiler of the scrapbook is unknown, however it is possibly the work of E. B. Solomon a deaf man associated with the South Australian Adult Deaf and Dumb Mission as Caretaker (1896) and Collector (1897-1919?). If it is the work of Solomon it is not known how it came to be in the Vicdeaf Collection and research is continuing.This Scrapbook is a significant collection of material relating to the Deaf Missions of Victoria and South Australia with the period cover being from about 1895 to 1905. St. Mary's Anglican Church at Bulla originally occupied a site along Oaklands Road, adjacent to 'Woodlands' homestead. It was established in 1859. With there building of the Melbourne Airport at Tullamarine it was found that the church on its existing site was directly under the flight path of the aircraft so the building was demolished stone by stone and rebuilt in the Bulla township adjacent to the Alistair Clark Rose Garden. The original site has not been developed because some early graves are there.St. Mary's Church at Bulla is one of the earliest to be established in the Bulla district. Its mother church, St Pauls Church of England at the original Broadmeadows township was established in 1850 and it still stands and operates on its original site.A black and white photograph with a cream border of a stone church with the congregation members entering the church. The Australian Association of Teachers of the Blind (AATB) noted in the minutes on 17/1/1958 that the Council on behalf of the Association invite the New Zealand teachers of the blind to join AATB. Introduced in 1974, the Braille Book of the Year was created to both acknowledge excellence in writing as well as raise the profile of Braille books. In 1993, the award was won by Ruth Park for her book 'A Fence Around a Cuckoo'. The award was accepted by her literary agent Tim Curnow. The Bathurst Award for Narrator of the Year award went to Irini Pappas for the audio version of 'Put Your Whole Self In', a story about the Northcote Self Group Hydrotherapy and Massage group, by Meme McDonald, which also won 'Audio Book of the Year'. The Royal Blind Foundation of Queensland was formed from an amalgamation of Vision Queensland, Queensland Blind Industrial Centre and Royal Blind Foundation in 2001.
