Vida Horn was the founding librarian at St Kilda Library. She helped plan the library from 1970 and worked there from its establishment in 1973 until her retirement in 1987. She was a lifetime member of the St Kilda Historical Society and founding member of the St Kilda Festival Committee and Garden Festival Committee. The program outlines Presentation of Colours Ceremonial, names of Regimental Staff, Duties, Companies and the names of Officers and the Consecration of Colours. On the front is the Rising Sun Badge with Australian Commonwealth Military Forces and two crossed flags. On the right is the Union Jack and on the left is the green 38th Battalion flag. The letter is from Allan Wilkie who has sent $10 to cover his subscription to the Historical Society and he enclosed the 38th Battalion AIF booklet on the Presentation of Colors. In 2013, Gary Partington generously donated farm implements to Greensborough Historical Society. These implements had been used at the family property "Willis Vale" up to the 1960s. Members of the Partington family farmed the area from the 1840s. In this photo, Elinor, Gary and Faye stand behind the plaque that explained the provenance of the displayed implements. Unfortunately, one of these items was stolen in December 2016. In February 2017, former Greensborough local Geoff Foard visited Greensborough Historical Society. Eric Barclay also came along. Many stories were exchanged and everyone present had an interesting day. Russel and Nancy Foard came in Greensborough shortly after the cessation of World War 2 and operated their Foard's Store until 1958. The Fashion & Design collection of Kew Historical Society includes examples of textiles dating from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. Some of the textiles, were used as items of clothing, others as items of household decoration, or simply as travel souvenirs. These textiles were created both domestically and internationally. Predictably with the growth of an ethnically and culturally more diverse community in Kew after the Second World War, textiles, clothing and objects in the collection inevitably reflected this diversity.Fitted black silk cape or shawl, joined at the neck, and incorporating embroidery of the same colour. The item includes extensive, double-row fringing. On examination of the piece, it would appear that it was constructed from a Manila de Manton (piano shawl).
