On the front, on the left are three green grass stalks with three gold and copper flower heads and gold printing on the right. On the inside on the left is the menu and on the right, the toast list. J. H. Carolin was active in municipal politics from 1886 - 1913. He began his career in Kyneton and arrived in Bendigo in 1879. Councillor Carolin became Mayor for the first time from 1889 - 90 and then again in 1907 -08. John Paul Carolin married Mary Corcoran in 1861and together had 10 children.
