... 91 Moreland St, Footscray, City of Maribyrnong, Victoria , 3011, Australia ...Between 1992 and 1998 Snuff Puppets was housed on the third floor directly above the Melbourne Museum of Printing at the old Bradmill Cotton Mills building on Moreland St in Footscray. Museum proprietor Michael Isaacsen was keen to share his resources and gave Snuff Puppets carte blanche to use his Museum. Nearly all the promotional posters and materials from this time were printed in limited edition runs at the Museum using scrounged paper, odds and ends of ink, lead type, wooden type, lino cuts and an old press. Built in C1920, the Dale Stables are recognised as one of the best surviving examples of private horse‑training stables in the district and are listed in the City of Maribrynong Heritage overlay. The stables have strong associations with the Maribyrnong Racecourse (near Fisher’s property), the Ascot Racecourse and Flemington Racecourse. The stables are historically tied to the Dale family, early settlers of the Maribyrnong township estate. The family were active in pig farming, road transport, horse rearing and local community development. The first public race held at the raceway was in October 1946, in front of approximately 7,000 spectators, and quickly became a major venue for solo motorcycles, sidecars, and midget speedcars. Soon after opening, the track was taken over by the Kirjon Speedway Company, and was renamed the Kirjon Speedway. Fred Tracey, a well known solo motorcycle racer and winner of the 1947 Victorian Solo Championship, took over the venue around 1951, renaming it Tracey’s Speedway. Tracey’s Speedway closed in 1963, ending nearly two decades of racing.
