This commemorative envelope was produced to mark the 125th anniversary of local government in Victoria, calculated from the establishment of the colony's municipal system in 1857. The envelope specifically commemorates local celebrations held in Broadmeadows on 27 November 1982. The item reflects civic identity and municipal pride during the City of Broadmeadows era and incorporates the municipal seal used by the municipality. The special cancellation references the Broadmeadows Leisure Centre, indicating its role in anniversary activities. This commemorative cover is historically significant for its association with the 125th anniversary of local government in Victoria and the City of Broadmeadows' participation in those celebrations. It provides evidence of civic commemoration, municipal identity, and the use of official symbols during the late twentieth century. The inclusion of a special Broadmeadows cancellation links the item directly to a local event, while the numbered limited edition enhances its documentary value. The cover contributes to understanding how local government milestones were publicly celebrated and represented within the municipality.Rectangular commercially produced paper envelope with gummed flap. Printed in black ink on cream stock. Front bears municipal insignia of the City of Broadmeadows, commemorative text, Australia Post pre-stamped floral indicium, and special pictorial cancellation.
