Inscription on the back of the photograph indicates that the photograph was taken in 1948 at a demonstration day in Ballarat. R. Ching's grocery shop, Sussex Street, Linton, established in 1861, was sold by Alan Ching to Alf Nunn (father of Dulcie Morgan) in 1960 and was subsequently demolished. This photograph was originally believed to have been taken in the early 1900s. The ball was held in the Parish Hall in October 1947. This was the first debutante ball held in Linton after the end of World War II. Organisers were Mrs H. D. Scott (Doris Scott, wife of the vicar) and Mr & Mrs S. Chasey. Debutantes and their partners were: 1. Lesley Hart – Les Crosier. 2. Shirley Howard – Kevin Knight. 3. Rosemary Gillett – Ian Horne. 4.
