While this tramcar and track were constructed for the FNPTT, the line was only operated by the Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board from 1920. The leather strap over his right shoulder looks similar to that used on conductor's bags. This along with his youthful appearance suggests he may be the tram conductor posing for the photograph.
