Designed by noted architect Cedric Ballantyne, it is one of the suburb’s most ornate public buildings and a key symbol of Sunshine’s rapid expansion during the inter‑war period. It closed around 1990 and was later restored and repurposed as the Tobin Brothers “Legacy of Life” Chapel.”The Sunshine Fire Station on Hampshire Road is one of Sunshine’s most historically significant civic buildings, a landmark of the suburb’s inter‑war growth, its industrial identity, and its long relationship with the Metropolitan Fire Brigade. These photographs were taken after the fire station closed and relocated to McIntyre Road in Sunshine North, but before the building was restored and repurposed for use by Tobin Brothers.
