William Ochiltree Lewers (1867-1943) was a son of LInton's first bank manager Samuel Lewers and his wife Annie. He farmed at “Hoyles Creek”, Mannibadar. He married Caroline Murrell (daughter of Ambrose and Mary Murrell) in 1910. They had two sons, William, b. 1910 and Samuel, b. 1911. The community hall, originally a shearing shed, was donated to the RSL in the 1950's. Moved from Bill Lewers property 'Hoyles Creek' to Clyde St, Linton. When the RSL closed in 1982 the hall was bought by Grenville Shire council for use as a community hall. The hall was demolished in December 1996 when the Multi Purpose Hall at Linton Rec.
