WT George & Co of Sherlock Street Birmingham were makers of ships lanterns under the trade name “Meteorite”. In 1941 Thomas George writer assumes a relative of WT George was granted a patent number GB546575 relating to improvements to his lamps. After this date a plate was affixed with this number. What's confusing with the companies records is that they show that in Birmingham three companies are listed making lamps together and the writer is assuming under a partnership agreement. First in 1983 W T George & Co with William Harvie & Co went into liquidation with G Bocock & Co, together, then in 1992 George Bocock and Harvie Ltd were in liquidation. Although these companies seem to have different addresses in Birmingham they were linked together given they were all liquidated at the same time for two of them. They all appear to have been partners in some way making marine lamps under the William Harvie banner. William Harvie & Co. Ltd advertised as being electric light and power engineers, and patent ship lamp manufacturers, as early as 1901-1902, as listed in the Post Office annual Glasgow Directory 1901-1902.An item made by a company that was an innovator of significant improvements in the manufacture of marine signal and navigation lamps during the late 19th and 20th centuries. Lamps made by this manufacturer are now sought after collector's items that are of significant value. James Moore and Sons had a timber and saw mill at City Rd., South Melbourne. They employed over 600 men with a wide range of skills, turning out milled timber for building, household items and other cabinetry, the wooden bodies of trams and even what is believed to be the first commercially produced airplane propeller. The site also included a nail making factory. These goods were sold throughout the state before the company went into voluntary liquidation in 1935. James Louis Moore was born in Ireland 12/8/1843 and died in London 3/2/1913 before his body was returned to Melbourne for burial in the family vault in April 1913. The business continued under his sons Walter, Louis and Arthur. "Calvert Model" hats were designed by Frank Tisdale. A Government Gazette of the State of New South Wales on Friday 7 September 1973 (No.117), page 3941, recorded that: "CALVERT MILLINERY PTY LIMITED (In Liquidation), formerly trading as Frank S. Tisdale.—A first and final dividend is intended to be declared in the above matter. If persons claiming to be creditors have not proved their debts or had their debts admitted by the liquidator by 24th September, 1973, they will be excluded from this dividend.—Dated this 3rd day of September, 1973. P. J. WOODWARD, Liquidator, 32 York Street, Sydney." Therefore the hat must predate 1973, and given that it is in the style favoured by the actress Audrey Hepburn (the style of the hat has been called an "Audrey") the hat probably dates to the 1960s.The Kew Historical Society’s fashion and design collection is comprised of costumes, hats, shoes and personal accessories. Many of these items were purchased or handmade in Victoria; some locally in Kew. The extensive hat collection comprises items dating from the 1860s to the 1970s. While most of the hats in the collection were created by milliners for women, there are a number of early and important men’s hats in the collection. The headwear collection is particularly significant in that it includes the work of notable Australian and international milliners.High crowned brown straw hat with a downward sloping rim. The design includes brown ribbon at the base of the crown. A label on the inside back rim identifiies the hat as "a Calvert Model".Label: "a Calvert Model"milliners, women's clothing, frank tisdale, calvert model

The site was previously used as an unsealed car park for the Eltham Railway Station. In 1996 Wayne Phillips MLA announced that Caldeed P/L was the preferred developer of the land at Eltham Station for a proposed commercial development and commuter car parking (The Advertiser, April 16, 1996). Blockbuster Eltham was established on this site around 1996-1997. Following the company's 2010 bankruptcy and subsequent nationwide store liquidations, most Victorian Blockbuster locations were shuttered between March and May 2011 after ownership changes, with the Eltham storefront closing Friday, 13th April 2012. The last Australian store closed in 2019 in Morley, Western Australia. An unofficial Facebook page remains in existence in 2026 at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Blockbuster%20Eltham/123397434395463/ The shop was then converted to a Liquorland store. The site was sold 25 August 2015 with a ten year lease in place to Liquorland. A new lease was signed 4 March 2022 and the store converted to a Grill'd Hamburger restaurant, opening its doors September 8, 2022. eltham, shops, businesses, blockbuster, eltham shops, grill'd, liquorland, main road eltham

The Lavington Sports Ground, former home of the Lavington Sports Club, is now owned and operated by Albury City Council. Over 50 years ago, a group of Lavington locals dreamed of building a new sportsground to encourage more people to play sport, particularly juniors. The original oval opened in 1973. The Sports Ground was developed solely by the Lavington Sports Club, formed by 30 football and cricket players and supporters in 1964. Football and cricket clubs had existed in Lavington since before 1914. In 1964, the football and cricket clubs merged to become the Lavington Sports Club. The new club and facilities were established on land initially leased from the Divine Sword Missionaries on their former seminary and turkey farm. The club expanded its facilities and representative sports throughout the next 20 years, including hosting international events. However the Club's debt worsened and In 2001 the entire Lavington Sports Club operation went into liquidation. It was taken over by Penrith Panthers through the Panthers Entertainment Group. In July 2009 the Albury City Council purchased the Sports Ground and has further redeveloped the ground and its facilities. This badge is representative of the role played by sporting organisations in the local communityA circular blue and silver enamelled badge issued for membership of the Lavington Sports Club.On front of Badge "78 -79/Lavington/Sports/Club/Limited" On reverse "MEMBER/NOT TRANSFERABLE/6114/PERFECTION BADGES/SYDNEY/770775"lavington sports club, recreational facilities albury, sport and recreation
