... Mr William Ching Snr....Mr William Ching Snr.... of Old Lintonian collection ; No. 23 Mr William Ching Snr. Old ...William Ching and his wife Mary migrated from Cornwall to Victoria in 1853. They lived at Buninyong and Geelong before buying farm land at Linton/Happy Valley. The Ching farm was known as 'Ophir Farm'. William Ching died 1917 at Linton age 89. His wife Mary Ching died 1894 age 64 at Linton. William, Mary, and their children Francis William Ching, Mary Ann Ching, and Godiva Marion Ching are all buried at Linton cemetery. An identical photograph in the collection (Registration no. 242) is said to be of the Methodist Church jubilee celebration in 1910.(OLA reunions did not start until 1914.) Document. Handwritten letter to George and Dave Harris of Axedale from Walter Ching informing them of the death of their sister Laura, dated October 16th 1914. Cream paper with black border. Blue envelope addressed to ''Mr Dave and George Harris, Axedale. Letter written from Dobie, near Ararat, where Ching family had moved from Axedale. Walter Ching's parents,Walter William and Harriet Ching are buried in the Bendigo Cemetery, MON H6. Walter Ching was killed in Action in WW1- 8.10.1917, aged 21. No known grave. Name on the YPRES Memorial Belgium. Walter Russell Ching was born at Grassdale (Near Axedale). Occupation Chemist's Apprentice.performing arts, elocution, letter and envelope -

Invoice issued to 'Mr. Lewis' (i.e. Lewers) [Manager of the Bank of New South Wales at Linton from Hugh Gray & Son, of Ballarat, for cleaning, lacquering and adjusting gold beam and scales. A charge for "cartage" has been added to the invoice by R. Ching. The invoice is marked "paid" twice, first by a representative of Hugh Gray & Sons, then by R.
