The message in the editorial is students are 'on the threshold of life.' Some students will be able to cope with difficulties better than others. The tape has not been played but from the label it is presumed to be a recording of Rolf Harris launching Legacy week in 1972. For many years the main time of year for fundraising is September when Legacy holds 'Legacy Week'. Often there is a celebrity who would launch the appeal so possibly Rolf Harris did this in 1972. Sir Arvi Hiller Parbo: A.H. Parbo joined Western Mining Corporation in 1956 and over the next 12 years held the positions of Underground Surveyor, Underground Manager, Technical Assistant to the Managing Director, and Deputy General Superintendent. He was appointed General Manager in 1968 and became a Director in 1970. He was appointed Deputy Managing Director in 1971 and became Managing Director in the same year. In 1974, Parbo was appointed Chairman and Managing Director of Western Mining Corporation. Western Mining Corporation Limited (WMC), incorporated on 2 March 1933, was active in minerals exploration and production in Australia and elsewhere until taken over by BHP Billiton in June 2005. A comprehensive history of the company has not been published, but there is a great deal of published and unpublished material recording various aspects of its activities.
