White Miner's Right in the name of Susan Christie of Eaglehawk. Miner's Right No 50, book No 306 and dated 17 March 1898. At the top is a crest with a lion and a unicorn holding up an oval piece with a crown on top. The oval is divided into four and an illustration in each quarter. The Miner's Right cost two shillings and six pence. Signed by Nancy Morris. John TURNBULL was a prominent citizen of Sandridge/Port Melbourne. He started as a baker in Bay St then moved to the corner of Rouse and Nott Streets where he ran his baking business until leasing the premises to various licensees as The Auld Reekie Hotel. The Sands & McDougall Directory of 1880 shows Turnbull owned this store in Rouse Street, next door to the hotel. He served on Council for 15 years with one term as Mayor, 1877-78. John TURNBULL died on 13 March 1889.
