This bill was introduced in the Legislative Assembly on October 16th 1873, by Bendigo's (Sandhurst) Minister for Mines, Angus Mackay and became law on January 1st, 1874. This act made a lot of changes regarding safety in the mines. Some of the mine-owners were not pleased.
