The review explains the purpose of the Rail Trail with a brief narrative of the history behind Rosstown Sugar Mill Railway line. Concluding with information on the location of the Trail and the expected time required to walk the entire track included in the review is a map of the Rail Trail, which marks significant sites along the trail with historic pictures. 2/A newspaper article from THE AGE, dated Tuesday 21/10/1980 and written by Iola Matthews, reporting on the circumstances that led to the publication of the book RETURN TO ROSSTOWN written by Des Jowett and Ian Weickhardt. Murray Ross which includes information on his financial ventures – particularly the Rosstown Rail – his marriage and children. The author has drawn heavily from the 4 sources noted in the bibliography. Subjects covered include the ship the suburb is named after, the suburb’s State School, the suburb’s churches, the Rosstown Railway and Sugar Mill, the origin of the name of Carnegie, the suburb’s aerodrome, and the beautification of the Glen Huntly Shopping Centre. The final 12 pages consist of 9 appendices relating to the aforementioned subjects. Appendix A is a typewritten letter from Ron McLeod, secretary of the Place Names Committee, to Mr. D. R. Aylen, CEO of the City of Caulfield, notifying the latter of the alteration of the name ‘Glenhuntly’ to ‘Glen Huntly’. Appendix B is a list of the ministers of St. David’s Uniting Church from its formation in 1916 to the present. Appendix C identifies the persons portrayed in St. David’s stained glass windows. A small bakelite stand-alone coffee grinder with curved metal handle and metal grinding works. 1. On the lid: Within a circle and in relief Pe-De Dienes Reform D.R.G.M.D.R.P. Above the final inscription a small metal plate carries the words: Gesmeed maalwerk loopt op kogels - (forged grinding mechanism runs on ball bearings) 2. On the main body: Another circle with, in relief, an image of a deer head with with a cross inserted between his antlers. Thereunder the brand-name Pe De.

Round plate with two holes at back through which metal wire has been looped for hanging. Floral Delfts blue decorations around, bouquet in centre. On underside, Royal Delfts Blauw Handwerk, crown.

Electro-plated triangular sheet metal letter-holder with deeply scalloped edges and a bas-relief of Rembrandt's Night Watch on both sides. Four tiny balls on the corners serve as feet. The base has been hammered.DD. 90 is barely visibly inscribed below the Night Watch scene on both sides.

The cylindrical silver-plated container has slightly convex lid with central knob. Container and lid are decorated with scenes of country life. The decorations are in bas-relief.The initials D and E ( for Douwe Egberts) are imprinted within a rosette. Also a tag with the letters HH with 90 beside it, possibly a record of the silver-plating process.

Refers to the 25th anniversary of the reign of Queen Juliana of the Netherlands.Shows fondness/affection of the Dutch public to their royal family.Pewter; circular with a rose petal edge.Embossed likeness of Queen Juliana which states above the image: "Koningin Der Nederlanden" - Queen of The Netherlands below the image: 1948 - Juliana - 1973 - likely referring to the 25th year of her reign. On the back of the plate: A pewter strip welded onto the plate to allow hanging via a hole in that strip. A makers mark at bottom of plate - "KdBR" featuring an angel with clarion/trumpet and holding palm branch. Below maker's mark is "92% tin" on left of reversed face is: "Namaak Verboden" (Imitation Prohibited) on the right of reversed face is: "Tingieterij Roelen" (Pewter Foundry Roelen)

Promotional material for the dairy industry. (a) to (f) - Six round plates each depicting a different aspect of the dairy industry as it was in the past. Two blue circles decorate the edge of each item.Each plate has the word "Zuivelland" below the illustration. A difficult to decipher maker's imprint is on the back of the plates.

Queen Wilhelmina reigned from her 18th birthday in 1918 until she abdicated in favour of her daughter Juliana 50 years later.Such plates would have been readily available in 1948 and an important part of the celebrations.Earthenware plate decorated to commemorate the 50year reign of Queen Wilhelmina. Her picture in the centre is surrounded by oranges. Her portrait is surmounted by her coat of arms. Below the portrait are the Dutch and Orange flags and her initial.
