Tuesday 6 August 1959 trawler 'Minotaur' crossing western end of sandbar near entrance at 2.30pm, big wave struck craft broadside, rolling it onto its side, next wave smashed the wheelhouse. Skipper Dave Allen and mate Cam Stuckey were rescued from the water by another trawler.
