1970 was the Bicentennial of the 1770 voyage of Cp. James Cook to eastern Australia and the Pacific. Pt Hicks was one of the first places on the Australian mainland which Cook saw from his boat 'Endeavour'. This photo was taken from Pt Hicks on 20 April 1970. This photo is significant because it is a record of the start of a yacht race in 1770 from Pt Hicks to Sydney. A b/w photo of a crowd of people standing on rocks in the foreground.
