Vermont South Traders and residents are opposing Shell Australia's plans to subdivide a prominent Nunawading Council owned site on Burwood Highway for a 24 hour petrol station, McDonalds and Video library and cafe. Despite widespread disapproval by traders and residents, Nunawading Council still plans put its draft structure plan for Vermont South Activity Centre on public display. Council owned land on Burwood Highway is earmarked for rezoning to restricted business zone. The draft has designated the area for a mix of office and retail development. it is not intended to duplicate retail services which already exist.
