Corporal John 'Snow' Coughlan served in No. 9 Squadron, Vietnam, from 25th April 1967 until 23rd April 1968. He was awarded the Conspicuous Gallantry Medal because he went to the assistance of American airmen twice after their gunship helicopters crashed into dense jungle inside enemy-held territory.
