This tea party was held in Crichton Reserve (Princes Street houses in background, No. 249 on right) on a Christmas morning in the early 1940s. Doreen Farrell and Patsy Couch were cousins who lived next door to each other at 273 and 275 Princes Street respectively. Margaret Smith lived at 259 Princes Street and subsequently married Patsy’s brother John. A slightly larger version of this photo appears on Page 10 of “They Can Carry Me Out”. The identification of the girls was made by Patsy Couch Bailey on the Born and Bred Port Melbourne Facebook site on 13/11/2017.
